Breaking news: HBG takeover

I might have it wrong, but Richo is usually pretty quick to respond to stuff like this in hosing it down. He spent a huge amount of interview time explaining how good and improved the new systems of our club are at the end of last season and now that's taken a pretty severe blow.

The fact that the club has issued a nothing statement and there's nothing from Richo suggests at the very least that he wasn't involved otherwise he'd be on the front foot as he usually likes to be. Going to more serious extremes, his silence might reflect the fact he is either needing serious discussion to resolve his problems or is on the way out.

I'd prefer him and Benji to walk if they're not happy with this move. Both of them are imperfect, but I think they have worked together well to at least make us more credible looking both on and off the field.

If they don't like it, I hope they have the guts to leave, because they have enough influence and credibility that our entire fan base and significant league figures will back them to force change.

The trouble with accepting this return to HBG control is that it did not work, and they've continued to prove their incompetence off the field with their continued bickering. I just can't see it. But ultimately Id be persuaded by the opinion of the CEO and coach on this matter. For all their flaws, I believe both would not be willing to tarnish their reputation for something they don't believe in.
Surely it’s untenable for Richo. And Benji will know that recruitment and retention has suffered another big set-back. Why put himself through more attacks on his ability as a coach? Both deserve better than this.

Only NRL intervention can save this club from itself.

Doubt we will hear anything from Richo until he is certain of his next move, whether that's positive or negative, ?

That's probably the trouble, in their own dinosaur minds they think they do own it, if Wests tigers members were able vote on the makeup of the board I'd doubt they'd get one hand up for any of them in power at the moment for the HBG representatives.
Even ashfield or hbg members mate. 2 out of the 3 guys who were kicked off were the 2 elected reps and it was clear which way they voted. Just extrapolate that out.

benji & richo bust their ass for years just for it to be undermined in a day. with their reputation intact they should run & run fast

Wests Tigers arnt the problem though.
It's at HBG that changes need to be made. Wests Tigers finally seemed to be sorted after 25 years. It's the majority share holders where the problems are coming from.
Yeah, I dont think JC understood the situation well. This isnt a balmain conflict thing, theyre gone. But he still got to the right conclusion.

If you want another decade of spoons Richo leaves.

I prefer the NRL ensures Richo stays.

The onflow impact with Richo and Benji going is that no serious experienced CEO or coach will take on this team and whats worse is our best players all have options / can leave quickly in a market that is very competitive. We also can’t sign players until board/CEO/coach are replaced.

100% agree B2T...and every day gets nearer the pointy end of life where you could fall of the perch at any time, you definitely get to learn getting upset about footy is a waste of time. Being interested and concerned is a real thing, but getting upset, nah.
That’s a great attitude BZN I commend you for a truely remarkable turnaround. Are you ready now to tell us all about your vision for WT?

Reactions: BZN
When the merger happened everyone on both sides agreed that the “Tiger” should be our emblem. If I remember correctly we were going to be called Western Tigers but someone on the Magpies side wanted that to be changed to Wests Tigers.

Part of the kerfuffle now is “too much orange” on the new jerseys. I know actual tigers have a lot of orange colour in their coat but I’ve never seen an orange magpie.

🤷‍♂️🐅🙀

My advice (if I may be so Bold?) is for Richo, Benji and players is to find a better gig, one where you don’t need to fight so hard internally to achieve the results you expect. Somewhere you don’t need to constantly look over your shoulder for the enemies within.
Don’t worry about us fans, we will drop off or find another team.

The thing is HGB won't give up their license without a fight. They will try to drag it on as long as they can.
If the NRL decide to take it back there won't be Jack shit HGB can do about it. The NRL tips around 13 million in club grants to each club.

All the have to do is pull the plug if they find reason too.

I think HGB may have underestimated the heat this was going to drop on them.

I hope it can be sorted but if loose the license it is, so be it. I'd rather see the root cause with the WSM debenture administration forced out and proper voting for delegates, along with the NRL kicking in some temp funds to up the 10% Balmain share.

I believe if Richo was gonna walk he would have walked today. He knocks things on the head pretty quickly.

He has been around long enough to probably think about this scenario. I think he will have a few hands to play.

As some have already said he won't say anything on the record or publicly he will use the journos he trusts to publish it as a hypothetical.

PVL gets shit done & for him to come out publicly today I think we may be okay.

Quietly confident by radio silence besides a simple website post, note no members email. Plus a FB/Insta post of the players.

Everyone that has come into the fold backs Richo from an off field perspective. He goes I think a lot follow.

Yeah it's only a small thing but it irks me especially in the media it's the Wests Tigers. We're not the problem the majority shareholders are. Until they start constantly repeating HBG nothing can change as the public perception will be it's a typical Wests Tigers drama. When for once we were sweet.
