Breaking news: HBG takeover

Again Paton has explained why.
But he hasn't explained anything? He made statements about not being informed... But boards do not work this way.. feel free to educate me where I am wrong... How can they have board meetings and the HBG not know about it when they have 2 members on the board? Why can no one explain this to me?

Also worth noting the class of HBG, the sacked board members found out via media, not via the HBG themselves

Nothing would surprise me …

2030 is a long way away though …. What do they expect to happen in the meantime?
Make preparations...get ducks in a row...legal advice and position...takes time. Knowing the agreement is up in 2030 just adds another layer to all this and a cloud over the true agenda/direction of the owners unless they renew the agreement.

Hughes on radio just said he had heard something was going to happen at the board meeting and before that happened the 4 independents are gone.

Could it have been they were going to rebrand wests tigers in nsw cup ?

I guess all will come out in time
That explanation would make more sense, not the one that their CEO trotted out.

But why wouldn't HBG put that kind of stuff in the agreement?? Like no-go areas, unless it had a vote at HBG level. Richo would purely be looking at it from a cost and synergy perspective. If he's been given a remit to maintain profitability, but is also being told to maintain 2 state cup teams, then he won't know where to turn.

5 years is a longtime playing in front of terrible crowds and getting flogged most weeks …we just got out of that …are you going to go back to it? I won’t be ,,

Weird thing is, as I finished reading your post, I found myself humming the theme music to the X-Files 🤷‍♂️
In fairness, I don't think I was the only one that was under the impression the brand was unchangeable as a pillar of the merger.

This is new information for me, and with rumblings around HBG board members crowing about bringing back the Magpies and too much orange on the jersey, it starts to fit into the realms of possibility. The fire's not there yet, but plenty of smoke to worry about for now.

Anyway …Brent Read has said that Richo can now walk away with two years of pay …given clauses in his contract …

Why would he stay ?

Hopefully because he is not a quitter and he is working with PVL to get a positive result for the Wests Tigers and than fans

If he does walk away we are probably doomed

It is just amazing that such a screwed bunch of duds can have such an impact on a club hundreds of thousands of ppl love and the ppl can't do anything about it

Shane on those self centred pricks

Well…Read says he is pulling the pin ..I won’t call him a quitter though ,.. he has been pretty up front all along about what he would do ..

Yeah, but one of the things he always mentioned that was key to success was a functioning board and a chairman he can work with, and that if that wasn't in place, he wouldn't have agreed to sign.

Hughes ?

Why would that cause such an extreme immeadiate reaction ? They aren’t playing a game for another three months …. They couldn’t have pulled rank otherwise in the meantime a bit more quietly ?
My read into their immediate reaction is to do with this point I've bolded from yesterdays DT article:

Holman Barnes privately indicated concerns regarding four recent developments including the colour of the new Tigers jersey, the club’s stadiums strategy, a push by the independent board members who wanted to update the shareholding agreement and a lack of communication.

They got scared of losing too much power in the shareholding agreement which all independents wanted updated, hence why all 4 independents were stood down without notice. That's my take anyway.

I think you could be right. If HBG maintain radio silence the chances are the roll up at Pratten will be so big as to be embarrassing. If the mob are allowed by the police to march to Wests Ashfield that will be truly embarrassing.
Will be a PR disaster for them and effect them from community to government level.

I think they are so deluded they think this will blow over after the initial media & social media firestorm.

Yes ..he wanted an independent board to work with .,.no doubt that’s the reason they have to pay out his contract because that looks like it’s changed
