Australia end the day at 326/8 against England in another exciting day at Adelaide.
Alex Carey and Usman Khawaja were the big stories on day one but England found ways to stay in the game.
Long live, Test cricket

8-326 in my opinion we have our noses in front
Runs on the board
England have to bat last
The big flop
Cam Green ! A second ball duck averaging 22 this year Over rated !
How good is Starc this series
With the ball 18 wickets at 14 ( 4 innings )
With the bat 122 runs at 61 ( 3 innings )
Third top score today 33 not out
Big worry no Smith batting or CATCHING !
( The Barmy Army when they get back to their hotel will be 2 colours red and white )

Alex Carey lost his father Gordon Carey in September, 2025.

Months ago, he said, "Dad was my mate, my coach, my mentor."
💔

Today, after his maiden Ashes
💯
, he looks at the heavens to his dad, and points the bat towards his wife in front of his own home crowd in Adelaide.

His wife's emotional reaction says it all
✨

This is where cricket becomes more than just a game.

Don't often agree Steve .....but Green is doing my head in

They are hoping he is a unicorn in the Jaques Kallis mould. It’s not really panning out that way, and maybe he should’ve had to work for it a bit more?

Someone thinks he goes well at T20?
$4mil for 2 months? Did I hear that correctly?

After day 1 of 3rd test Aust batting averages in series so far
Weatherald 32.5
Head 41.8
Marnus 36.7
Smith 51.5
Kwajaja 42.0
Green 23.0
Carey 64.6
Inglis 27.5
Starc 61.0
Neser 16.0
Cummins 13.0
Boland 21.0
Doggett 20.0
Lyon 4.0

What stands out ?
Green at 23 sub par for mainline batter
Inglis at 27.5 ditto ( only batted twice )
Starc at 61 exceptional for a guy with 18 wickets already

The rest ok so far

Green has been the golden child since his first test. They are desperate for him to succeed and be the dominant force in Australian cricket going forward. Sadly he has delivered very little. You look a guy like Webster with half the natural talent but consistently delivered at test level. I guess while they are winning you stick with him or do you send him back to shield and grade to find some form
