Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

That’s my opinion and Connor had a strong season before Gus and Cameron played with the formula.

At $900k I don’t believe Bula is worth the money that Isaac Moses is asking for.

Each to their own, hopefully there will be better days mate.
Fair enough. Just struggling with the rationale. The teams difficulties were in scoring points both in structure and with strike. Bulldogs have seemingly also identified this and are seeking to move Tracey out and Bula in. Tracey a huge backward step imo but each to their own

Pretty standard from the I. Moses play book. He has history of convincing multiple clubs that a player is 100% committed to try and squeeze every dollar out of the contract.

He did it to us when Mitchell Moses was off contract. At one point Tigers, Dogs and Parra were all confident he was going to sign with them.

Saw the same with Galvin, both Dogs and Parra were convinced they had him.

Same thing happening here, both sides being played. Only Bula and his manager know where he actually wants to sign.

Richo only had one foot in the door when most of them had decided to jump off the ship, how well do you think this club will go without him, let's see what happens going forward with the B class running the joint.
Fair enough regarding one foot in the door...
I think we are arguing slightly different points here though. I'm not pro HBG. I think their actions have only harmed the club. I'm also not really anti-Richo. He is a proven performer with his history in the game. In that dichotomy I'd back Richo every day (unless further information we are not currently privy to arises).
What I can't get behind is the narrative on here that Richo was on his way to be our saviour before HBG intervened. He had definitely done some good things (turning a profit for instance, though even that is overstated). Other things I think are meh but his supporters argue were great (e.g. recruitment). And finally in some areas I think he has failed, one of those as raised by Tucker is retention. Was he on a hiding to nothing in this department given the recent history before he took over? Sure, but he still failed. Even with that criticism I'm disappointed he is no longer here.

How can you say he failed? It’s like turning the oven off on a cake halfway baked.

The retention issue only gets down in part to dollars
Was our now Parra hooker off the bench worth the $600,000 quoted and the additional clause of not being able to sign API. I’d say definitely not, just my opinion.

Retention issues are dependent on other offers and opportunities

Would we have liked to have kept Ute YES , but at what $$$ and against perceived better opportunities. His decision, not merely we want you to stay and here is a great offer.

Would we have liked to have kept ICE
POSSIBLY, but at what $$$ given a less than outstanding year.

Would we have liked to have kept Galvin,
YES, but HE was trying to get out for over 18 months. His (and his mangers decision) not merely we want you to stay and here is a great offer

All 4 LEFT Wests Tigers for far stronger clubs despite i’d say similar or better contracts being offered by wests tigers.

Wests Tigers offers to current or prospective players are hamstrung by a history of failure and atrocious management.

I don't want to lose Bula but if he leaves supporters will have the knives out for HBG, could that be the final straw for them cretins to be shown the door.

The club could turn around with them gone with better owners, an end to the shit show finally.
before the HBG stuff, we were all pretty much saying that Bula's extension with us is at the whim of a certain I Moses. I reckon I can work out which of the 2 straw grabs is more relevant.

NO NO NO NO and NO. It's not his manager continuing with his proven track record. Proven more than once.
It's HBG.

You are absolutely correct and I did say he was probably on a hiding to nothing for the reasons you've mentioned. However it is his (and the coaches) job to sell the vision of better days ahead and the players role in that. He was not able to do that (regardless of what else is going on). Not only was he unable to convince them to re-sign in 3 of the 4 cases you mentioned he couldn't convince them to see out their contract.

Yes, he was hamstrung. But ultimately he still failed.

lol BS.
We will do well without his false promises, his inability at the negotiation table and his stupid catch phrases. He’ll be missed on the financial side but hopefully the systems he worked on can be expanded and improved upon by the next guy. As a leader, he won’t be missed anywhere near as much as some are slitting their wrists about. Don’t forget…he left us the first chance he got!

One person I would like to hear from is Richo and what he thinks about the task that is required to sort out the train wreck that is the Wests Tigers and what really went on behind the scenes.

He came in all guns blazing making bold statements about how this wasn't going to be all that hard and that he'd had tougher assignments.

I think we all had our doubts and many of us thought that he was underestimating how hard the road ahead was going to be, but just hoped and prayed that with his experience and previous track record that we were finally heading in the right direction.

I wonder if we will ever really hear from him about it, but if we ever do it probably won't be any time soon as I would assume that there may be non disclosure agreements and various obligations associated with his pay out.

There is no doubt that the man can spin a pretty good yarn and I would love to hear all about it sometime.
buy the book if its ever released , be some interesting reading.
Guy is old school. Very unlikely he will gob off in the media ,for self satisfaction

It’s my point and you’re arguing semantics as usual. Who specifically are you referring to?
We’ve already spoken about this. He let guys leave early from their contracts who at the time we needed to dig in…Papa, Bateman, Klemmer…he also lost players who the club has been championing for years and had put a lot of work into developing….Stef, Galvin, Da Silva…2 of which left early from contracts unnecessarily.

Harsh, who was the last guy that did a better job, lol this time I'll wait.

Like I said, he is a huge improvement on the financial side. Just about everything else was sub par….yes there were certain circumstances that didn’t help, but this guy crapped on about the “crocodile roll” and at the first opportunity he bailed. He is replaceable and we should give the new guy a chance.
