Winning your first grand slam match would be like winning the tournament. Unreal effort. Also, thanks Monfils for the entertainment you have provided over the years.

Sweeny was great today but doesn’t have the power game to get far in grand slams - biggest win and also longest match he has played so massive congrats to him.

Monfils was one of my favorite players to watch he is a true magician and one of the genuine shot makers on the tour even at 39.

Having entered the 2026 Australian Open as the only Aussie woman seed, Maya Joint's run has ended early after a straight sets defeat on John Cain Arena.

The 30th seed, who was seeking her maiden singles main draw win at Melbourne Park, bowed out 4-6, 4-6 to 18-year-old Tereza Valentova.

(They'll be more!!)

I think Australia has a really good batch or players coming through, very pleasing to see.

Two images. Same Grand Slam. 21 years apart

Gael Monfils just played out his last ever AO match having announced his retirement at the end of 2026.

Great memories made every time he stepped on court.

After 3 hours and 3 tight sets,

Maddy Inglis defeats good friend
🇦🇺
Kim Birrell to reach R2 at a Grand Slam for the second time.

“It’s really hard to play such a good friend…I absolutely adore Kim, it was really hard to see her on the other side,” Inglis said in tears post-match.
