Not sure where they lived but most of those boys went to westfields . They were definitely in and around my life due to the connection and interplay between the parra JRL and wests JRL , amongst other things . . I always thought they were from Liverpool area. But I’ll take your word for it . Can’t say I like that crew very much . On a side note Corey Payne was the biggest douchebag I ever met . And it was a dagger to my heart the day the tigers signed him .Good to hear! Those things make a difference.
Growing up in the 90s there was magpies stuff everywhere in Leumeah. Tommy went to every School fete in the area and would sign footy posters almost non stop. He was NSW origin coach at the time as well. He'd ride around on a flat bed truck barking people to come to the game. Leumeah station had footy decals all over it. It reached it's Zenith in 1996 when Wests made the finals. It was getting really legit around that time, and then Super League took all the oxygen out of the project / area. Also Tommy R was a sugar hit for the area but not a long term pro coach.
That great Campbelltown footy generation, (Fulton, Gibbs, Lawrence, Jarryd Hayne, Ben Roberts, Collis, Gallant), grew up in and amongst all of that. There was a really solid connection to Campbelltown in Wests Tigers when we had all those westie juniors in the side. Gibbs and Fulton especially brought a lot of Campbelltown humour and personality into the team, and when we had all those local lads (+ Skando and Hodgo) it didn't seem such an outlier or so soulless to play at the Stadium.
When playing against him I have to admit I would often try to start fights . When I was on the same team as him , I often thought about launching the nearest blunt object at his head. No surprises at all what happened at the riff .
Lol 😂 I probably gave away TMI there . Whatever . He was a dick growing up . And he was a dick as an adult . One of those dudes you wonder why the powers that be would give such a POS that much talent lol .
