OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Omg mate,, he wouldn’t have been in the team at all if he was not a good player, they would have picked a different player to be 6 instead of Luai.. can you not work that out ? Ivan Cleary and every other coach of every team Luai has ever played for had the choice of every other player that played in his position and chose him.. are you saying that Cleary has no idea ? Benji and richo signed him for Tigers , are you saying they chose an objectively bad player to pay 1.2 million to? Fittler, Madge , Daley , the nsw selectors ? The Samoa selectors all just picked a 5/8 that can’t play footy to be the 6… Jesus mate they all have no idea but funnel web on the internet judges a 5/8 better than all of those people that picked a player that cannot play to represent their NRL and rep rugby league teams just becsue they liked him as a person? That will do me … 😅😂🤣🤣
They picked Luai in State of Origin because the Penrith formula was working so well and didn't want Cleary to have to spend time building a connection with a different five-eighth, it's really that simple. It was even painted that way in the media and the selectors openly stated that was a big part of their decision. Now it's going to be Talagi in Origin with Cleary. And no offence to Samoa but who else would they pick at five-eighth? Yeah he's Samoa's best five-eighth but it's not like they had many more options, well they do now because Talagi is a better player. Lolohea was playing for Tonga last I checked, is he a good player? And yes I am saying Benji and Richo chose an objectively bad player to pay $1.2 million to, the same way Cronulla did with Hynes and anyone that watches football knows that Hynes should have his pay packet swapped with Trindall.

Needs to be better - much better …

Compare his influence on the game to Reynolds …which one is getting $1.3m and which $600k ?

I’ll cut him a little bit of slack because he hasn’t played for a month …but time to step up on the field big boy ..
One is a 7 one is a 6.
Douhei needs to be like reyno.
Luai like mam

So being admired because he's at a club with all of his old mates makes him a good player? Played 5 grand finals with Nathan Cleary steering the ship then came to us and did nothing (they're a better side now with Talagi than they were with Luai.) Is overpaid on $1.2 million (Ivan Cleary thought he was worth no more than $700k.) Played State of Origins off the back of Cleary and sticking with what worked with Penrith (he won't be there in the future.)
Hahahaha what? Did you not watch the dogs penrith game? Talagai was an absolute liability. He won SOO without Cleary also.

Good example of winning changing everything. Lose that game against a heavily depleted Parra side the Madden narrative changes to - great win against the warriors, couldn't get it done against a poor parra side and comfortable win against a depleted knights side.

The games Luai has played the results have been - a MOM performance against the Cowboys, a close and frustrating loss against the bunnies in which he came off injured and a disappointing 1 point loss to the Broncs. Scrape a win against either the bunnies or brons and the narrative changes again.

He has been disappointing at points, but the rhetoric directed at Luai has been excessive here.

Bro, Talagi ain't getting picked for origin anytime soon.

Who are they going to put with Cleary then? Sam Walker? Luai again? Moses? I don't know what games of football you have been watching but Penrith have looked the best they've ever looked with Talagi and Cleary despite all the big names they've lost. And if they went with Luai the first time because he played in that Penrith team with Cleary what gives them less of an incentive to do that now with Talagi?

All of those you have named are light years ahead of Talagi in respect of Origin. Even AD would be selected before Talagi

I think you're delusional to say that Luai and Doueihi are light years ahead of Talagi. No way an origin selector would pick Doueihi ahead of Talagi at five-eighth especially with Cleary. And a Moses and Cleary combination just wouldn't work, neither would Walker. Read my post again and process it then go back and watch Penrith's first 5 games.

Knowing the way Daley picks and the fact that Sam Walker is a Queenslander (not that I think he'd get picked anyway), I'd say Moses is a shoe-in. But I think Luai would still be way further up the pecking order than Talagi. Not saying Talagi hasn't improved, but I'd be very surprised if he's even in the conversation for a jersey at this stage of his career.

You have to have some of the most ridiculous and ignorant takes I have ever seen on this forum...and that in itself is pretty impressive. You have come out all guns blazing against Luai and Bula like you have an agenda against certain players. Your only redeeming feature is the profile pic of Twal. Penrith lost plenty of champion players however only really unraveled when Luai moved on, Blaize will come good, however as a 5/8 in that team since he has been there he would not even qualify to tie Luai's shoe laces....he is actually their weak link.

Yeah I completely forgot Walker was a Queenslander my bad.

Are you actually being serious with that last statement or is that satire? What games have you been watching? Talagi has been exceptional for Penrith this season and a lot of people would agree that Penrith are looking the best they've ever looked, in their first 5 games at least.

Not satire at all, didnt they fall into a heap in the first half of last year after Luai moved on? go watch the game where they got bundled out in the finals, it was all due to not having an attacking option other than Cleary and him getting shut down. Watch the game against the dogs last week and Blaize shit the bed in defence and they pretty much ignored him in attack as he is not much of a threat, so they only concentrate on shutting Cleary down. Most of the attack on their left comes from Casey Mclean, and Ice, blaize is usually a passenger. Blaize is nowhere near an attacking threat and still a massive defensive liability. Almost everyone on this thread has called your crap takes out, yet as long as you believe them I guess they are true.

It’s true mate. His defence can be found out and they lack a bit of creativity outside of Nathan at times. He’ll keep getting better but he’s not the finished product for origin that you’re saying.

You didnt watch the game against the Bulldogs did you because they showed exactly where their weaknesses are.
He is a young player with plenty of ability surrounded by a great squad with still a lot to learn before he is labelled exceptional..
