Commended Luai for both his professionalism and character.

“I’ve really got to credit Jarome for how he’s handled this process, the way he’s communicated with the club and ultimately come to this decision,” Mielekamp said.

“He’s been exceptional since his arrival – which we’ve all witnessed over the past two years – with the quality of his character shining through in a challenging set of circumstances to navigate.

“We’re pleased to have Jarome with us for 2027 and wish him and his family all the best in their eventual next chapter – he’s an important figure at our Club and will be held in high regard for many years to come.

“For the meantime, we’re all looking forward to the next 18 months and what we can collectively achieve.”

Luai would have a significant role to play over the remainder of his time with the club.

“Jarome has been really important in the direction we’ve taken as a group over the past two seasons,” Marshall said.

“He’s still with us for the next 18 months and the role he plays in that journey continues. We’re all looking forward to having him with us during that time.

“Jarome’s a quality human being who is widely respected across our Club. I know how difficult this has been for him, but he’s put his family first and we respect his decision.

“I just want to wish Jarome and his family all the best in what’s ahead for them and thank him for the contribution he’s already made to the Wests Tigers."

Why would we change any on field stuff when its not necesary...things are working well in this regard no need to upset thw apple cart

Exactly he’d signed with us well before leaving Penrith and he always gave 100% to that team to the point of winning a premiership.

If these deals were announced/ took place in a trade window/off season the impact on teams and fans would be far less damaging.I think most people are philosophical about Luai's decision until the game he plays poorly and or the team appears impacted negatively then there will be a whole different narrative/ reaction.

The NRL thrives on off field stuff as much as the on field. The test is how long fans are prepared to support a system that tests their commitment to clubs when it is "loyalty" that keeps the fan engaged and the need to feel at some point you will reap the benefits of that.

Its been going on for decades.
I was 17 when Wests lost half their team to Manly and Newtown...that was gut wrenching...three of my favourites bailed along with another three
But you get past it... you dont forget but you get past it.
I paid my respects at Tommys service at the SCG a few years back.
Its part of the scene and has been for 50 years
 
Weak as absolute piss.

He first pulled on a Tigers jersey just over 12 months ago.

The fact people are patting him on the back is embarrassing.
 
I'm a fan of Jarome's but I'm not keen in paying someone 1,2 mill who as been given a license with a truck load to bring players to a start up club.
You can't tell me that he will not be absorbed by this next challenge. This is a major life change with the weight of a country of supporters relying on him to bring them a level of success and some players with him.
Can't stop him from trying to influence his mates to go with him but paying him 1, 2 mill possibly to our detriment..good bloke he may be.
