Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Because at least Richo knew what he was doing. Now he have an (interim) ceo still learning the job, no notable recruitment team our nrl head coach does it all and a GM of footy who was just coaching our Matt’s team.
I think you will find he is not learning the job, he has had a lot of experience working in sporting organizations at a high level. Richo was a smart operator but the way some people carry on about him you would think he could turn water into wine.

No footy experience?
Maybe hes never played the game but hes been involved in the top level for decades...he would have contacts everywhere, including all the.agents players and.coaches...other heads of footy.
Id.be surprised if.Pattys even close
Do you think Pat Richard never spoke with other players, coaches, managers in his career both in Australia and Europe? He would shit all over Chammas in terms of football knowledge both on and off the field.

If Pat's been dealing with 15 year olds it's very valuable experience that should transfer well to him dealing with those with the intellect of a 6 year old at HBG.

You are being very generous to give HBG the mindset of 6 year old's,i would say 2 and 3 year old toddlers would be closer to both their attention span and thinking processes.

Weve promoted Pat Richards from coaching 15yo's to NRL Head of Football
@Go_You_Good_Things where are you?
I asked you direct questions a few days ago and you crawled back into your hole. I see you have been online, lurking.

Now we see a boys club promotion instead of hiring someone with experience.

I guess this is just unreasonable fans "squirming" again eh? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Put the spin on this for us.
Then also come back to me with these facts around what happened in december - we are waiting for your factual insights.

People gotta get their head around that come 2028, the salary cap is likely up at least 20 percent ..
Everyone knows this! What's the big deal like it's a secret. The only mystery is how big is it?
So, wouldn't the manager have clauses in the contract to have a percentage increase of some kind or a get out clause to cover this contingency?
That's what the negotiations are all about. Their current worth, family, mates and player group potential. -and it's time consuming. And we are out of these proceedings. Very frustrating for sure.
We can only speculate ----- which we do in spades.

Involved? A journalist is nothing more than a salesperson of the written and spoken word. The art has been lost in this profession. It’s all about loaded comments that generate clicks and ad dollars.

Chammas is a smart guy, however, he doesn’t understand the heartbeat of an NRL club, nor do I, nor do you. However, after playing 16 years in the NRL and Super League, and winning 3 premierships, I’m pretty sure that Patty would be well ahead of Chammas in terms of footy and club administration knowledge.

I doubt we made a counter offer on that one.
There's only so many players you can pay overs for as a strategy

Take Samuela Fainu - he's on 500k now (not 100% sure)? That is $298,812 after tax as it stands. PNG offer 500k...he gets 500k, so already 200k better off. To match his take home pay with PNG, his salary in Australia would need to be around $875k to allow him to earn around 500k after tax. So even to match the after tax salary that player would get by playing for PNG, we need to pay 375k overs. Let's say we match it and pay overs...PNG just have to bump by 50k or 70k, then we are basically paying a million. You can't run a salary cap like that...you might only be able to pay overs for one player...not 2, 3 or 4.

I am not making these numbers up. These are real numbers from the ATO calculator.

Every over pay has an opportunity cost elsewhere.

the issue with Richards as DoF is not that he doesn’t understand how a Football Department works, but that it’s yet another Marshall-aligned appointment. the same as Gallant and Bronson, the same as Bomber, Hodgo and Heighington.

how is he going to be tested, challenged and improve on things when it’s just another one of his mates from ‘05?

So what? A vast majority of this forum and Tigers supporters gave Benji no chance, but he’s constantly learning, improving, and growing into the head coach role.

Not every appointment will work out, but I’d rather an old boy who understands our club than just another shonky administrator who lacks real Tigers insight.

Kieran Foran is a case in point. Young and inexperienced, but he understands the Manly culture and he's getting results.

I’d say most players would stay in Oz for a bit less. If you’re going to match PNG on dollars it won’t add up. The good GM’s will sell a vision, pay well for the right blokes and have some good TPA’s at the ready. Then you need to develop young players well. PNG won’t be attractive to a lot of guys, and they only need a handful of really top line players.
