Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The presenter on SKY declared Cronulla as the best bet of the weekend this morning.
His reasoning was that Api, KPP and "some other bloke" are out.

Summed up the importance to the team beautifully.
A much bigger factor than missing our 3 key players is the fact we have been up and playing with high intensity for quite a while, we have had some players playing through injury and our past 2 games only had a 5 day turn around.
Of course Benji will be trying very hard to get them motivated for this Sharks game and we will no doubt be trying, but it’s a game where we come up against a forward pack as powerful and physical as what we are and I think it’s inevitable we will lack intensity in some stages of the game.
Because we are high in confidence it’s possible we can find a way to win, but very unlikely due to the circumstances and that wouldn’t have been any different if Api, KPP and Bula were playing.

We do have a ten day turnaround though. Sharks have 9 though.

Stefano is the biggest myth I’ve seen in the nrl since Tony Williams . He is a big reason their middle is leaking like a sieve , and only has explosive runs when he’s running at the smallest guy on the field. How he’s still being mentioned for origin and T may and twally are considered “Smokey’s” is just bullshit . He’s absolutely shit . And he was when he played for us . Used to piss me right off all the time .
I agree Lestronge, he is a flat track Bully that picks his mark. Will never be the forward to lead the charge. i remember a game and i think it was 2024 season and they played the Rooster and got touched up 40 to 4. In that game our forwards were getting hammered and Stefano was no where to be found and the comparasion on the other hand was Fonua Pole who in a badly beaten team never stopped going at the Roosters forwards and was rewarded with a try at the end. Terrel is a head and shoulders better front rower than Stefano.

Agree with much of what you're saying here, H. And you say it without being a smart arse !
My constant return to the demise of Balmain is for all those who kick start their HBG argument whenever something that is even 1% negative to WT happens. Just to remind them why HBG are in charge.
Are HBG perfect ? No, of course not.
They have done things that make me cringe, but at the end of the day:
1. They are our current owners.
2. They were the only ones who dipped their hands deep into their pockets to pay out Balmain's defaults on debts, and I would imagine that since then they have had to shoulder the financial burden without any $$ input from Balmain's half of the JV.
While all this happened years ago, it is still important to the issues today.
I really don't want to go down the Magpies vs Balmain road . . . but, how do I put it . . . it seems the old Magpies people are complaining much less about HBG than the old Balmain people.
And in reality anyone that is too young to have magpie or tiger loyalty, that is complaining about HBG's antics . . . needs to understand how HBG came to being in charge.
HBG's debenture system is of their own doing. It seems out of touch with modern ways . . . but it's the method used by the club that saved WT from going down the shitter when Balmain defaulted.
Same goes for their boardroom shenanigans.
Of course, they can't get a free ride forever, and burn us to the ground just because they saved us financially all those years ago.
I must have a romantic set of values that believes we owe them a degree of respect for what they did to save our club years ago, and are still doing.
The answer lies somewhere in between.
But every time this business rears it's ugly head, all I can think about is the Monty Python skit about the Judean People's Front.
"Ok . . . apart from roads, sanitation, law and order, education, irrigation, medicine, wine, and of course the aqueduct . . . what have the bloody Romans ever done for us ?
Or is it the People's Front of Judea ?
So HBG dipped into their own pockets using their own money, not the revenue from the club they run . If that's the case I take my hat off them. Do you know if each board member put in the same amount or did it vary? Was it voluntary or did every board member have to contribute?

It’s a joke with all the complaining from teams not performing about the speed of the game. Was our coach doing so when we won three spoons in a row?

The problem is obvious to see. You need to hold onto any momentum you can and defend well. It’s simple and hasn’t changed, what has is the ability for momentum to shift rapidly throughout a game.

Teams like the dogs, storm and raiders are either missing key forwards or just don’t have them to begin with. Our pack is for once performing well and has some really nice size while still having the leg speed to match. Big ups to our performance staff and to the players.
last year raiders won some lucky games, the magic round game in the wet.against storm and the miracle in Mudgee game against penrith
lucky to be where they were.
Ethan Strange is a bit over rated

That whole team does . Who knows what smoke was blown up thier butholes by sheens , McDonnell , Pascoe and the Fedora .
Literally a cautionary tale about what happens when don’t keep kids grounded . Large is 20 now . There was talk he was going to be Benji like teen debutant … now it’s not even clear he will be a five eighth. I know he’s going to have a long great career , but I’ve said it before he was the generational talent we all talked about long before Galvin had his growth spurt , and Makasini proved he could transition his raw abilities into older age groups .
Large was born August 2007 so still 18 (and played SG Ball this year). So yes while discussed as generational talent he is not 20 and still time to debut as young as other generational talents

Luai never said he was considering removing the clauses. He has always said so long as the club does the right thing by his family then he isn't going anywhere. Not once has he indicated he would consider removing the clauses.
Bula has also never made any public comments about what he intends to do. Meloncamp and Richo before him both said they were confident a deal would be done but Bula has not indicated anything one way or the other.*
* Apologies I just realised you were referencing May stating he wants to be here. He has, but has also stated he would be silly not to chase dollars as well.
He did mention he was here for life. Clauses shouldnt of mattered. Not that im complaining. Works out well for us.

Tucker is still devo (and rightly so) we let go of genuine guns like Galvin, Stefano, Staines, Naden, Tumeth, Junior Tupou.

Apparently the true narrative not reported in the media was we offered them each marquee player money and they said that they were leaving regardless. All had their own dossiers as well.

These are the guys that win you a comp. Not our current rabble.
You forgot the Big hitting Pom Bateman.

I'd put Makasini above Bula, if only because if we can lock up Makasini now it could be for a real bargain whereas Bula's next deal is going to be full-whack market value if not more.
Sam , Macca, Turuva , Bulla in that order as bulla already got 1 & 1/2 feet out the door , just waiting on the dogs to finalise his special deal , we should also dodge the 1 year in our favour ,
