Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

SMH saying we have “joined the race” for Connor Watson and have a meeting with him next week scheduled … would be a good fit for us … particularly if it was just one year before he heads off to PNG ( presumably) ..,

First time in ages they have been linked to someone
We could definitely be a sniff having Jarome. Why not play with him for a year in 2027 before the chiefs in 2028 plus we are gonna in the premiership window starting next year.

Anyone got an update on Makasini. All media was saying 2 years extension but nothing official anywhere.

Are we into the 3rd year of them building Latu ‘up for NRL’?
Kid was up on blocks for most of the year before he got here and is still busted more often than not…

Hopefully we’re keeping our options open,
Hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel

You have run out of batteries then

Watson be good for a year , I’m not a fan of one year deals for top graders but if he is up front and off to PNG , well you either take it or leave it , I think we could do with a back up centre , but with Luai going I would look at Burton , him and AD similar players but double trouble I think for opposing sides , both got big kicks , both big body , both can run hard , one on each side with SamF and KPP could be absolute destruction , dollars could be an issue but Burton x 2 or 3 years be ok , it also gives us option if one is out , Latu I know folks will say what about him but gee he needs to spend time in reserve grade and build up , he could switch with Burton in the 13 roll and have Twally as a back up forward or starting prop

Sounds like we want him for more than a year ...

SMH: On Friday, it emerged the former State of Origin super sub had also attracted longer-term interest from the Tigers and another Sydney club, with meetings scheduled next week.

Watson’s versatility could suit the Tigers, where he could play lock and also provide cover for hooker and co-captain Api Koroisau.

I’m not a fan!!
He’s turned his nose up at playing for us more than once, he’s only be coming to keep him in the loop…
better to find someone else who actually wants to play for us.

I think you could be right ..but I suspect he is headed to PNG in 28…for some tax free bread

We need someone to fill in next season when 33 yr old Api needs a spell …and he would be pretty good at that .. we can also use him in other roles …after that perhaps the kid can take this role in 28

Maybe he decided PNG wasn’t for him after visiting?

Watson will be 30, if he comes to us. Whilst he is still a versatile player with a lot of footy smarts, it smacks of a final payday in the realm of Anasta and Ballin.

If it's a long-term deal, no thanks, but one year could possibly work.

I'd also be surprised if the chiefs take on a player that's had an extensive list of injuries over his career.

You

You said its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel....if you cant see what the rest if us see then get some batteries for that torch mate and light that tunnel up
If you’re illuminated - fill the rest of us in on this when this kid will be playing 80 minutes every week could ya?

Because I don’t see that happening any time soon.
