LIVE GAME Round 14 v the Panthers

Live Game Discussion
Smokies for the spoon.

Benji needs to get some lessons from Foran.
Spare me the hyperbole. Talk trash about the team all you like., but have some awareness about what’s happening below us. For us to be smokies. the Dragons would have to win at least another 6 or 7 games which isn’t happening.

Luke Keary's analysis has impressed me this year. He speaks honestly and has a feel for the game. At halftime he gave Jerome Luai a serve saying 'Jerome has not brought any success to the Tigers. He hasn't brought anything to this club. Glad someone has said it. He needs to be dropped honestly.

It’s hard to argue… he has been poor just about every game … wonder what happened last week … he must be bitter on Galvin

Can someone explain to me how Cleary can kick the ball and it hit his team ate in front of him and its ruled play on? And no, im not blaming the ref for the loss before the do gooders jump on this question.

I tuned out at 36 nil and just checked the final score. I was hoping, even expecting the Tigers to fight back a bit in the second half. Boy, was I ever wrong! I put a comment in this thread at half time, saying that the size of the score line could not be excused and that I was embarrassed to be a Tigers supporter. I am shocked by the final score and thought Wests might show some guts in the second half. Again, sadly, I was wrong. It's hard not be highly critical of this rabble and of Benji. I know Penrith are good but to lose 68 nil is deplorable and an absolutely pathetic effort by a first grade Rugby League team. We now have the widest losing margin of the season. Nice one Tigers.

I think there's a strong argument for modification of the rules, and I thought I heard recently that many clubs had pitched to the NRL that the set restarts needed a re-think.

There are just too many one-sided scores for the comp. It's not just that Penrith are too good, it's that good teams are able to effectively shut out a match with a one-sided 20-minute period. For reasons not 100% clear, teams are not able to recover well from an early blow-out.

I believe 2026 recently became the highest average margin season, eclipsing the notorious 2021 season. Only 32% of matches have been decided by 10 pts or less (the previous lowest since 2020 was 54%).

And there may be right-sizing starting to occur where certain teams are more competitive with other non-Panthers contenders, but it's the yo-yoing of team form that also is hurting the comp. Cowboys are a prime example - beat Rabbits at home, beat Roosters away, hammered Sharks, whitewashed Dragons, beat Storm at home but were flogged by Tigers, Manly and Dolphins. Lost handily to Raiders who couldn't post a point against Roosters.

Don't forget, despite only being a trial, Tigers handled Panthers fairly well in the pre-season, so it can be done in other conditions.
I remember back in 2021 it felt like every game was a huge blowout, Souths manly storm and Penrith racked up a score every week, but I feel like there wasn’t as much discussion about the six against back then, I also believe more were handed out then

But isn’t that one per season and it’s over now. Back to full strength it’s possible to make a late charge, put a few wins together. Just got to get our best team back on the park.

I agree Sean T, Keary is the only one on Foxtel that sounds fair dinkum

Thought I would stop by after being inactive on here for a while. Thought I should remind some people of how absolutely useless and objectively bad of a player Jarome Luai is. We would just be so much better off without him at all. Doueihi would obviously be ideal but since Luai is going to PNG why don't we just see how Latu and Madden would go together? You can't convince me that we would be any worse off, why do we even owe Luai any game time? Shove him in reserve grade or have him on the extended bench. He's just so trash I can't believe he's on the money he is. I can't believe he's our captain, Twal would be better off sharing the captaincy with Koroisau. Anyways thought I would come back and rage bait some delusional people, after all I created this account just to trash on him.

And don't come at me with some "he's our captain on $1.2 million, we can't drop him." Yeah he's on $1.2 million and trash and a horrible captain who dogged the boys after crying about team first. Drop him now and promote Twal, he leads more with his actions on the field than Luai ever could with any words or any anime aura he thinks he has.
