LIVE GAME Round 14 v the Panthers

Live Game Discussion
I was very disappointed in Charlie Murray today, he looked overawed and took some easy options today… and madden has to play Reggie’s until he gets his kicking game sorted,,, just taking the wrong kick option consistently and hardly executing,,, really underperforming… Benji should bite the bullet and start Latu at 7 and bring Javon Andrews into the centres,, he is a big body and mobile so he could handle it,,,,, start preparing for the future
I don't know what people expect Madden to do on the back of a side who can barely make 20m a set and is always completely on the back foot.

I don't think anyone would have cared if he copped ten weeks inns, just a shit footballer, to think Perth signed him up, Ha, good luck with that recruit Mal lol.
There has been nothing confirmed about Perth signing him.
Why have we been playing him as a prop all season in NSW Cup and then come the middle of the season ask him to play a totally different position at NRL level ?
That’s stupidity in itself, but I do agree I don’t think he is up to it, I was surprised when we signed him as there was other better similar cost NSW Cup forwards available at the time.

Well, that's lucky for Perth they've dodged a bullet then if he's not going to be signed.

Maybe he was played at 2nd row because the cupboard was bare, Roberts in a moon boot, don't really give a rats it was a crap performance.

so who we missing again?

AD, Twal and Sam ? Is that it ?

Three good players … but the others have gotta stand up … there are several out there on good money
We need to lock up Samuela asap. As each week goes by, it becomes more apparent how valuable he is to this team. I actually think he is more the heartbeat of this squad than Tito in terms of his energy plus his effort and 1%ers are unrivalled.

Wonder what the hold-up is, the extensions were flooding in and now the one we want the most, crickets, these things make me nervous especially after a flogging with our history.

We have to stop doing that crap, we did the same with mason st fullback when he hadn’t played any cup there this season

I don't think he'll want to go anywhere else. It'll just be down to $$$ and how it's spread over multiple years. His manager Mario Tartak (although suspended) is a hard negotiator. What gives me some confidence is he manages Makasini as well so I don't think Mak would have extended so quickly if there was a good chance the Fainus may move on.

The same as every other player, money.
They all want maximum money, but then wonder why we can’t afford decent depth players tj cone on when we have injuries.
In comparison the core players who have stayed with the Panthers long term have have often taken less than they could have got elsewhere as they want to have decent depth players at the club.

Well, that unfortunately isn't going to happen here unless by some miracle we start making the finals or we finally have a glut of talent come through the system that want to stay, giving you the choice to flush inflated contracts.

At the moment it's just vicious circle, that wasn't meant to be a smart-arse pun.

No our defence through the middle is useless without Twal. Koroisau is still important but Twal is definitely more important.
Twal is a big motor to be a workhorse.

If Twal is the missing link, we need to do better. Sure underrated player, but we need more workhorses in our squad.

The NRL are smoking crack if they think a 19-20 team comp is going to be good viewing. The games talent pool maxes out at 15-16 teams. And they want to add 4 more sides to the mix. Total joke.
The game has to go back to a tougher grittier contest if it wants the teams to even out. This high-octane possession style is putting so much distance between the best teams and the middle, let alone the worst teams.

2001: 64-0 against storm
2004: 56-0 against roosters
2014: 64-6 against cowboys
2016: 60-6 against Raiders
2022: 72-6 against roosters
2023: 74-0 against cowboys
2024: 58-6 against Broncos
2025: 64-0 against storm
2026: 68-0 against Panthers

These are just some of our heaviest losses I'm sure there will be more to come
This is our STANDARD
😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣
One of the newspapers put up the worst losses of all time, I think Tigers had 3 in the Top 9 and all of them in the past 4 seasons.

74-0 is the current record and made all the worse by the fact that we beat them 66-18 just SIX rounds earlier.

I like what he appears to have done to our culture, but performance wise he’s beginning to look like Adam Blair or I-Pap 2.0. Why do these players come here and play down to a shadow of themselves? It’s hard to say. Is it us or is it them.
I honestly don't think it's just a Tigers thing - some players cannot excel outside of excellent systems.

The players we are referencing here were doing well at Storm and Panthers, two of the best and continuously successful systems. And they were plonked into ordinary systems with ordinary rosters. Warriors are another prime example - they have signed some unbelievable talent over the years but it's really only clicked when their system was doing the hard work, e.g. back in the Stacey Jones era or now under Webster.

So you need threats across the park for important players to excel, otherwise the opposition will just double-up in defence. This was very evident when Tigers were last good in 2010-11, when Benji had strong options on both sides of the park (Ellis, Dwyer, Lawrence) and Farah / Lui / Moltzen to offer alternatives in attack.

Tedesco had the same thing when he joined Roosters. He didn't play better than he played at Tigers (he was already playing Origin at this stage), he just had less responsibility and more threats within his team, to pressure the defence.
