Backrow debacle

Interested to hear people thoughts on how we manage the next couple of months with no Sam and KPP.

Honestly I have no idea what Benji should do, however I have a left field ideas that most will shoot down but worth the chat anyway.

Sione will stay left backrow for the time being. So that leaves right side. Sukkar will be an NRL player in the future but im not confident we will win the appropriate amount of games to stay in touch with him starting regularly right now. So it got me thinking, is there anyone in the squad who you could pull for your you know what to do a job.... I have always believed physically strong centres make the best backrowers....

so the idea is.....
Herbert plays backrow with Sukkar off the bench. Now I know that is really left field, but i can picture Herbert really taking that challenge on
Could He provide that mobility and aggression we need there for a short period? Small but powerful runner and defender. Dene Halatau like.

Tell me why its a bad idea

Not a fan of Sione in the backrow. I like how you're thinking though and wouldn't mind putting Taylan May in there if his shoulder is good and have Hemasini at centre. We need our backrowers playing 80 and wouldn't trust a Ressies player to do that yet.

Reality says.
Let's start thinking about 2027.
Our best 2nd rowers are out
The biggest debacle is for myself is - how do we sign that Canterbury forward that runs of Galvin. Pretty good player.

Also subscribe to the outside the box thinking - i.e Herbert.

Yeah i dont like Sione on an edge either. His footwork much more suited to the middle

I worry about Herbert's defence Infield further

The only person I would trial as a backrower would be Skelton. I think he has the attributes to play backrow/front row.
Realistically though, we're going to see Sione hold down a spot, with either Sukkar, Geyer or Roberts until KPP and Sammy are back.
I got laughed at and mocked at the beginning of this year for suggesting Skelton in at 11 or 12. Be careful, this group doesn’t like out of the box ideas

Tony Sukkar did well replacing KPP, i was also watching Herbert and thought to myself that he has the physical traits where he might be able to move into that backrower role. People have thrown up Skelton for some time to transition into a backrower and I can see some potential there. The key will be to try and minimize the number of players playing out of position, a team could cover 1 or 2, however more than that becomes problematic.
