Coach Benji 👑

We are coach killers
Have to stay with the plan atm imo. I believe he’s still learning on the job. Will be mid next year before I’d consider moving him unless Bennett or slater was available.
As they say a week is a long time in rugby league

With the number of pec injuries and add a couple of shoulders into the mix is conditioning an issue. Have no idea myself but are they focusing too much on the muscles in the mirror and forgetting the other side or vice versa

I agree they should give him one more season..subject to new assistants… we’ll see if anyone wil change anything …Im not buying it now ,,

He still gets too much leeway cos of who he is. If he was some random assistant we plucked from another club who had never had a first grade gig before, not saying he’d be hated, but he’d be incredibly disliked. And he’d be under a lot more pressure from the supporter base. With Benji, people only tend to fire up after a bad loss. Any other time, his standing overwrites his lack of coachijg ability.

Probably …and I can’t argue with your assessments of his coaching ability ,..

However he is also the biggest name the club has had , so if someone is going to be given a lot of leeway by the fans it’s him compared with Sheens second time around or Mick Potter ..

Lip service.

Benji saying it starts and stops with him but it really doesn't. We're 3 years into his coaching program and he can't fire up a pretty solid team to beat an all time spoon era Dragons. Crap. Absolute crap. Will always love the guy but what he says in pressers doesn't actually stack up. Its nonsense. This team needs the biggest ego destroying spray of all time and I'm not sure he can do it to his pack of little brothers. This team needs to know that they've failed in 2026 and haven't lived up to the projected identity that they all live off. Our players can't live up to what they act like they are --- Luai included . For all your podcasts and banter and IG posts, and all your millions of dollars -- there is an accountability thing here that is not being lived up to. They need to be told they're sh1t.

Benji talks a good fight, but he's made his big calls and he's been backed to the hilt for many years now. Its not the wait and see era for him much longer. I actually want to walk up to him and say to his face ''you've been given a unique tailor made bespoke grand entrance into coaching since mid 2023, no other person gets that opportunity except you, and you can't even dust off an all time spoon dragons team 3 years later. You're actually sh1t cous. You played one of the all time worst teams and your side did nothing."

I hate being a fan today.

It was never going to end well with him serving no apprenticeship. He never earned it. Sheens just woke up one day and decided ‘Benji can be a coach”. And three years later, here we are having made little to no progress. I guess we aren’t dead last, so that’s a win in some sense. Low bar though.

We will not get the spoon this year but without doubt we are the weakest team in the comp. Our attack is beyond terrible and our defence is not much better. Sadly with very little in the way of roster upgrades for next year, the near future looks bleak. Funding is the main thing holding us back. I don’t know the numbers but the Dogs operating budget is probably four or five times ours.

Anyway as per every other season it’s going to be a long depressing couple of months to finish the season

We’re just about at the point where we start looking to next year, and whether our squad will be stronger. We’ll have Averillo, and hopefully a fully fit Taylan. But those two hardly will catapult us. We still have Luai draining us, Api will be a year older coming off a significant injury. The only really positives are the Fainu’s. But they can’t do it alone. That’s assuming Latu actually gets a run.

We have no defensive coach, no tackling coach, no kicking coach, no halfback/5-eigth development structure, we have a side that can't consistently attack correctly in the final third. Benji you need new assistant or you may as well resign.
