OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

You gotta assume Latu Fainu is a big part of this. Why would he re-sign when he can’t sniff his preferred position. Benji saying righto kid, now there’s a clear pathway, time you and Samuela put ink to paper?
Well, he hasn’t re-signed…Yet. And I’d say nothing is for sure with this kid. Supposedly letting Galvin go early was supposed to give him a leg up, yet here we are.

Maybe. But it’s another black eye for the club. Another year of a marquee player walking out early. The club has to bear some responsibility.
IMO the tigers have given this plenty of thought and consideration.
The conclusion;
1. Benji drives the culture
2. Benji attracts players
3. Luai not providing value for money.
4. Latu and Andrews killing it in KOE as a halves combo. Readymade replacements.
5. Money to shop around for depth

Whats the difference?
Crossing yourself is a personal thing. It’s a quick act of faith someone does for themselves, whether anyone notices or not. A group huddle to pray is different because it’s a public, visible display that involves a bunch of people. That’s why I’d call it performative. Its a public display of religion rather than a private act of devotion.

Not really. But there is a difference between a player crossing himself, and everyone gathering in a big circle and taking a knee. More proof of the game being Americanised.

Hopefully we never reach the point where players are coerced or risk exclusion if they don't join prayer circles like in the US.

Some people don't like when politics and sport mix, and I feel the same way about religion.

Whenever I think about peak American sports culture, I think about this clip. Could you imagine Terrell May or Alex Twal, coming out at the presser at the captains run tomorrow morning and crying like this about how Jerome is their halfback. It would be national news for the next decade. In the US, they are so desensitised to this shit, it’s out of the news by lunch time

Disagree but we might leave it there as to not go off topic

There’s one guy who comes out of all these dramas looking like a million bucks, and that’s Api. Given the way he’s carried this team the last 3 years, the blood, sweat and tears he has expended, if there was one player you could excuse for saying “F this. I’m out,” it’s him. Maybe he’s a masochist. Poor bastard.
