Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Egan Butcher is a player who is best suited to playing 13, he very rarely gets that opportunity for the Roosters NRL team and I think he is so done who would benefit from a move away from the Roosters.
Currently contracted to the Roostrs until the end of 2027, but you would think they might be open to releasing him a year early to focus on upgrading and retaining other players.
I would sell him the opportunity of being our starting 13 providing his form earns it and try and lure him to us for 2027.
I enjoy the players you put forward as suggestions @Vicious like it!

I like @Vicious knowledge of the KOE and qld cup players and vicious scouting of some of them is so solid and relevant that I wish vicious were on the recruitment (scouting) team.. but I would restrict vicious to players that haven’t debuted in NRL their ideas on some established players have disturbed me considerably ☹️🧐

According to google AI we have one of the better funded grass routes programs
Maybe in total $$ spent, but the junior's area is huge and has so many clubs and so many young players (more every year), they probably aren't spending as much per club/player compared to most despite spending more money overall.

Agree on Egan. Played a bit of 6 in junior reps & showed plenty of skill. He has size, aggression & skill. He is also a tough bugger. Wouldn’t be a bad get.

Would be a good get, but at what price? Unlikely to leave chooks for tigers. From Top to bottom fall. Would need big $$$ for any chance.
He rarely gets in the Roosters NRL 17 that takes the field each week and with the Roosters having the emerging Blake Steep and Darcy Smith amongst others in their back row, it’s likely Egan Butcher will continue to slip down the pecking order.
Most players that are not getting much NRL game time have egos telling them they should be playing NRL much more regularly and because of this they are not going to be overly concerned about moving from a club near the top of the ladder to one near the broom, as they simply have a point to prove that they are good regular NRL players.
I am guessing he would currently be on a contract of around 350k so an offer of around 400k should be enough to secure him and if he plays to his potential as a 13 on a regular basis that would be good value.
