Jock Madden #244

It's unfortunate he's so physically limited because he's good at so many things a traditional 7 is meant to be good at.

Put his mind in Doueihi's body and you've got a genuine superstar. Instead he's more like Adam Reynolds without the elite kicking game.
Reyno has worked on his running game asell

Aware he's going to market in November, I don't think we're going to find better.

A lot to like about his game, he seems very competent and I believe he can get better.

I hope next year we see him and Latu as the halves, with Javon developing in cup, getting ready to take over, eventually.
Agree Demps, and his kicking game has been much better today. Has to be signed

I agree about Jock being a great clubman with a good attitude. I also thought he and Latu looked quite slick in the second half today. I like the way he straightens the attack and his kicking was solid overall. Madden and Fainu should definitely be the starting halves next year with Andrews in the wings.

As a cheap back up he is ok and does play with a lot of heart. As long as he realises he will never be a starting 7 i am fine with him staying at the club he obviously cares for.

Happy to keep him as a back up. Not sure we have anyone coming through that can do that role. The fact is most of our wins came when he was our halfback this year. He does play straight and create room for those outside.

Which a halfback's main job. If he can add a bit a running game, he'll become a more complete number 7.

Not a big Jock fan.
He tries hard, but he's slow, a poor defender and his kicking game is mediocre.

We probably need him still though. Benji will probably stick with Doueihi in the halves with Latu and Jock as backup while Andrews develops more.

I just wish Jock was more reliable defensively. Its ok for a smaller half to miss a tackle sometimes, but even his hold and release is very poor. Im ok with him not being a big running threat, its just his defence.

One point of interest that I found intriguing, he played a lot more freely once partnered with Latu. You could see he has more footy in him than what he has been giving.

Fix his defence and im more than happy for him to start at 7 next year with Latu out wider as a running threat. You could then play Javon on the right side in KOE cup. I think its important he learns to play both sides equally well.

I like Madden but if Latu and Andrews don’t earn and take the halves spots we are going nowhere fast.
This season has proven we lack depth and having at least 4 genuine halves options in the squad is mandatory. Retaining Madden has to be extremely important for WTs.
