Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Absolutely not, but I also don't think it's smart to build a team around families. Diversity is essential.

I made a post mid-year that I thought there would be an exodus of players at the end of the year.

It's starting to happen.

There's a saying - When you put all your eggs in one basket, you risk breaking them all.

When you don’t stand for something , you stand for nothing ! Diversifying is confusing . Making choices , for good or bad , and backing them is right play .
Everyone knows the choice . They either get on board or don’t . But the choice is clear . For too long , diversification and as such no future has been the highest issue both in the football department but basically every single level of the club . I’m glad they’ve made a choice . Now stick to it .

Or Ryde oval, despite the cricket pitch

Ryde TAFE has a nice Village Green in the Horticulture Section, which we used to set up for various sporting events like running, drinking, and barbecuing. It could easily be set up for a Footy Field and the Apprentices could learn valuable skills by marking the lines and mowing the lawn. Seating would be the bales of Hay. Perfect day out.

Rex Bassingthwaite will be their future 1

Maybe . But he’s no Tedesco . He’s a definite step down . I can’t see him
Ring anything other than a good first grade player . He will be replaced when they can sink their teeth into the best fullback they find / determine fits the “roosters way” . Like Teddy , and mini before.

Or Ryde oval, despite the cricket pitch

Not sure about Ryde oval, they tend to play more AFL to develop their juniors in the area.

Our family go and watch the Woodies play at TG. If you live in the inner west, outer west or north west, it's a quick drive across Sydney to Marsfield and it's a great day out.

My knees are still healing from that pitch , and that was back in 1980 😁💪 Go Scorpions 🦂

James Schiller could be on the move before next season despite having 12 months left on his contract at the Knights.

The Tigers are one club who have been linked with the 25-year-old who is free to leave Newcastle immediately if he secures a deal elsewhere.

Schiller arrived at Newcastle last season from Canberra and played 17 top grade games. But managed just one first grade game this year as he fell down the pecking order in a Newcastle side who marched towards the grand final.

Schiller impressed in NSW Cup, scoring 16 tries from 13 games for the Knights. The Tigers could be having a bit of a Knights reunion with Jayden Brailey and Kurt Mann already signed and Tyson Frizell expected to join the club.

I remember when half the forum was begging the club to sign him.

Not sure we need another fringe winger.

Do we need him….???……we need a middle or edge forward before him

I think we might need one more with Skelton leaving. Schiller always played in the centres coming thru as well which means he has more utility value as well which is massive in the age of the six-man bench.

I’ve always liked him but he’s certainly lost his way at Newcastle. looks like we’re trying to buy the dip similarly to what we did with Tupou.

Are you happy with Patrick Herbert and Tino Tavana playing plenty of NRL everytime we have an injury to our right sided outside backs, or if Averillo is used in other positions?
If they each play a couple of NRL games in 2027 we might get away with it and of course Tino is still young enough to have scope for improvement, but based on season 2026 form we will struggle if we have to play Patrick Herbert or Tino Tavana in our NRL team for more than the odd game here and there.
I’d guess Izaac Tago has also been discussed, but his hefty price tag would be an obstacle.

He is a proven try scorer at NSW Cup level and also at NRL level when given the opportunity.
He is tall, strong, fast, athletic, a good aerial threat, a genuine tackle buster and line breaker, someone who has the speed and proven ability to score long distance tries.
IF we sign him it would be on a smaller contract value for a player who has the above listed attributes Wests Tigers have long been lacking in their backline.
It would be a low risk signing that potentially could have high rewards.

Here you are again speaking with such self righteous confidence on subjects you know absolutely nothing about .. bravo👍👏

How would you possibly know what I have knowledge about?

Averillo ✅️
Brailey ✅️
Mann ✅️
Frizzell ❓️
Schiller ❓️

Solomone, extended.
Hopefully Sukkar & the Fainus, also extended.

Honestly, that's not a bad recruitment drive.

[Tucker]

Who cares. He'll be playing Ron Massey Cup. My God you whinge

…and my god you don’t know what you are talking about.

Marsfield could work but if a quality player had a choice of Marsfield or play at Wentworthville or St Mary's I don't think Marsfield will attract any players compared to the COE at Concord or Lidcombe oval maybe? birchgrove would be brilliant.
