It's time to take the fight back to HBG

The point is, HBG are not wests magpies. Anyone getting hung up on this is focussing on the wrong thing.

There's a pretty long list of evidence to show that they've moved way beyond the Balmain v Wests stuff that gets rolled out by old timers. In fact, I'd say the majority of magpies footy club members can't stand HBG.

Ditching the former wests junior program at Campbelltown and switching to funding Balmain juniors (in exchange for the former Balmain commercial assets) is an excellent example of how little they're motivated by old factional stuff and far more motivated by making money.

As long Wests Tigers run at financial losses and going cap in hand to HBG, they're always going to demand board control. It's just a business reality.

Shane Richardson actually made this point a number of times. He said HBG would be happy to step back once they see that the footy club is running at a sustainable profit.

If supporters want to see the club governed more independently of HBG, they should be asking what wests tigers management is doing to make the club more profitable.

Another example of someone just typing out their thoughts or opinions with no basis in the reality, and dare I say it, 'haven't done their homework.'

Wests Ashfiled have moved away from 'Holman Barnes Group.' They're Western Suburbs Leagues Club.

They are Western Suburbs Magpies. Burgess is hard-core Magpie. He added Leo Epifania, Alan Fallah, and Bob Cairns to the debenture group to strengthen the Magpie-representation at the Leagues Club.

Not only do Western Suburbs Leagues Club have 4 of their board members on the WSDRLFC board, they also have 3 recently appointed debenture holders of the Leagues Club as the 3 'member-elected' board members of the footy club.

Once he had them running at a profit they made his position untenable.
The profit was after funding from HBG.

Meaning Wests Tigers was and is still running at a loss. Not a profit.

As long as HBG still needs to prop up the operation, they will want a board majority.

It was reported at the time we made a profit for 2025, 2023 under HBG we were $1.4m in debt

Of course profitable clubs don’t need a hand out, but WTs has never been able to get off the ground in the years under the HBG board which is why they are dependent on the minimal funding

Dogs are extremely profitable club on their own & still receive $5m annually from their LC
Explain how they're running at a profit if they require $5 million from the leagues club to keep going?

You do realise the whole point of a Leagues club is to invest in a rugby league club right? Are you saying that HBG shouldn’t have to kick in any funding?

You’re such a revisionist and dribble absolute crap. You’re tying yourself in knots to justify the fact the club made a profit under Richo and independent board, then as soon as this happened HBG got rid of them.

Yeah, but the agreement was the football club wouldnt have to report to HBG if they turned a profit. This profit was inclusive of HBG's investment, because it showed the football club generate revenue via other methods.

Yep. The footy club turned a profit and HBG realised they were on track to lose control, so they blew everything up and sacked the board.

So, you are spot on...
