It's different for 2028 because the new tv deal will come into effect, and this TV deal will be the biggest jump we've seen in a tv deal. For example, the AFL signed a 4.5bil, 7 year deal last year. The NRLs current deal signed in 2022 is only 1.7bil. NRL gets more views than AFL and in 2028...

I think its worse for the Bears, they've been totally screwed over by the NRL. The only hope they had of attracting players was offering overs and they cant even do that with PNG in the frame. They get no exemptions and leg ups unlike PNG.

Now that Jarome is gone the club need to move quickly to lock down both Mays, both Fainus, Makasini, Bula, Pole and Turuva ASAP. With 1.2mil in the cap cleared for 2028, it should be achievable. Provided they can lock all of them down, Luai leaving will become a blessing in disguise.
