The trouble with the whole thing is it going to cause a massive inflationary effect on all franchises. Players when negotiating new deals will want more money and will use PNG as their stick. So all the extra cap space created by the new teams that is funded by having two new teams will...

Greenberg set the bar in the scumbag stakes and PVL cleared the bar on his first attempt with his eyes closed

If it was a club veteran like Chris Lawrence you could understand the love fest but a guy who is a blow in blow out , it’s way over the top.

In the early days of ESL international players were given generous tax concessions and there was a flood of players heading over there. The British government closed the loophole after a few years and the move became far less attractive. I guess the same will happen in PNG

Initially there will be plenty of players interested in the Tax free dollars being offered by the Chiefs. It’s also something that will affect all franchises not just ours, but I think things will settle down after a year or two. As the word gets around about the life style your forced to endure...

There has been a whisper about it even before the Luai news broke. I would say it’s on the cards. Like Luai it would not be the end of the earth, 2028 gives a few kids plenty of development time

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The NRL have given the Chiefs a massive leg up by ignoring the tax free advantage in the salary cap. Yes I can understand them wanting a competitive franchise but it makes it very hard for the remaining franchises . Maybe there should be some sort of agreement they can only recruit one player...

    Round 9 vs Sharks

Half your spine out for at least three weeks would test any team. It’s going to be a struggle to get the bacon in all three games

Don’t know anything about how PNG will operate but I guess they will run a reserve grade and junior teams in the QLD system. So they are going need a fair few established players. As far as their crowds I have not heard anything about violence but they do take enthusiasm to another level. When I...

PNG probably need about 20 players, maybe a couple more. The rest of there roster will be locals. So they have 17 franchises and all of ESL to fill these spots. There will be plenty of players looking for a juicy tax free pay check willing to live in PNG. So I don’t see a big exodus from our...

If the likes of Bula and Luai are tempted by tax free dollars to join the Chiefs I can understand it. On the other hand if they signed with the Dogs or another already established franchise I would be dirty. Of course the bottom line with the contract they have with us, they are entitled to go...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There might be an initial rush of players cashing in on the dollars, but not many will last up there. It’s a hard life especially in Port Moresby. I guess the long term aim is to fill the majority of the roster with locals, but that will take a decade. I think most players would want get out clauses

A week in the NRL is a long time, two years is an eternity. Just enjoy our current form and have faith that we will be able to adequately replace any departures. Remember we are talking 2028, that’s over a year and a half away

One of our more reliable posters is saying he is getting whispers Bula is also a big chance of joining the land of the tax free dollars. Sadly it’s very hard to compete with the lure of tax free environment especially for a club like ours. Iam sure for some of the wealthy clubs it’s not such a...
