Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Man I disagree with this. Penriths hobbit wingers are a massive reason for their success in my opinion. The metres they and Dylan Edwards make coming from their own end consistently put penrith in good field position, while giving the forwards a break. I rarely see him out jumped or out muscled and he is an excellent finisher. Perfect modern day winger.
Yeh, nah…

We’ve had our eye on Shyster since Harto and we’ve been tracking Lomax for awhile.

I don’t think Morris will leave, not for South’s at the moment.

Misplaced faith in an out-of-control Lats has killed JD. When he started dragging in other players shortcomings in the recent press conference, it seemed to me that he had lost all perspective. It was a terrible look.

Lats knew JD was under pressure but he ratted on him by being stupid anyway.

Cam Murray couldn’t hide his contempt for Lats. Cody looks finished, Cook is gone too. It’s not a side you want to coach right now.

At the moment, I think Benji is going Ok. I’m surprised but not unhappy.

SGI will be a challenge. They tend to bounce back strongly and they made uncharacteristic errors last week.

Flanno is a good coach. He would have slotted Latrell ages ago.

I'm thinking it may be even worth offering Galvin the captaincy, post Api.

The guys footy IQ is up there and he's still got a lot of development in him....

Looks like a future NSW & Aus rep player.

One to keep at all costs.
Look he does, but lets not overbake him.

Post Api, it's a weird question. Klemmer isn't in the right mindset. Bateman isn't a bad option, I reckon give it too Olam and either nothing will happen or he will shape up the squad.

Actually give it to Olam, he may just kill anyone under-performing.

yea, but it's pretty damn simple. Cody Walker is a great player at the end of his career.

Like Sutton before him he should have moved to the front row or bench and let new talent take hold.
Same with Damien Cook, the hard hitting style has hit the 32 year old hard.

So these guys are strutting like they own the place when they should be saying "please don't fire us".

I honestly hope we keep Morris. What's changed from 2023:
Olam + Faagatu, Real centers.
Sezer who is actually a decent 7 with a good 5/8 backing him.
John Morris joins coaching staff.

Penriths back 3 benefit MASSIVELY from Penrith brutal defensive structure. They force teams to kick long from inside their own half and whoever gets it just sprints it back for an easy 30m.
Don't get me wrong I think Edwards is an incredible player, so smart and likely one of the fittest blokes in the league. To'o is a gun, and Turuva can certainly play too. But I think the success these guys have is a symptom of their success, not the cause of it. Their defence is relentless, everything else feeds off that.
I see what you mean. The way they swarm and dominate in defence is unbelievable and guys like Leota, Fisher-Harris and Martin are walk up starters in any team (sidenote: cannot believe how good Eisenhuth looks in their system). While the wingers and edwards benefit from that, I think they contribute to it as well. If weren't so efficient coming out of their own end the Forwards would be picking up a lot more slack. Add Cleary and I guess you get one of the greatest teams in history.

After what happened with noffa, I can't believe people are suggesting Schuster. From all reports, he's just as bad when it comes to training as nof.

Why would we risk tearing our standards down when we just built them up?
Don't fret all you guys. He wont be coming here at any price.
Doesn't fit Benji's player/team profile so get off the band wagon on what he's worth........it aint gunna happen!

Benji already knocked him back...
Scott Fulton would've had him taking the 800k and upgrading it.

No thanks.

It cracks me up the whole “insert current Wests Tigers coach name here” would get the best out of said player comment that you see here.
I reckon Benji 'has' got the best, or at least a lot better this year from players we had on our books last year.
And I believe Sezer has probably performed better under Benji than we thought he would.
If Sullivan has the natural ability and common sense to be at least a good Rugby League player, and I feel he has, I believe Benji has what it takes to do that for him.
But buying players from now on that we 'hope' will improve as we have done so many times previously just doesn't cut it anymore, unless Benji has had a bloody good chat with them to access their actual ability.

Speaking of centres. The Roosters are currently running with Pauga (struggled in NSW cup when at WT) and 35 year old Michael Jennings.

If you have a good spine and decent forwards you can get by with almost any centres.
Those you mention did SFA last night...
When you have Manu, Sualii and Tupou having games like that it takes
some heat off the Centres.

I see what you did there. 👍🏻
Yeah they cuzzez, Will is 31, this bloke is 25 and played plenty of rugby already and his stats weren’t worth writing home about, feels a bit like you’ve just pick up a new girl, taken her out, and two of ya mates go “I’ve been there already”. Ya still keen bcoz she’s still new to you, but ya now asking what’s wrong with her

Agreed.

I’d take Nathan Brown off Manly for 2 years and swap to Bateman.
It's not going to happen either.

Schuster now officially released by Manly.
He would now only command about 250-300k maximum and I know it’s far from ideal recruiting known lazy trainers who carry that same laziness into game days, however not many players possess the size and talent of Schuster.
In NRL terms 250-300k is a low risk, if the player gets his act together, trains hard and produces his best we have a bargain, if he continues to be lazy we simply don’t re-son him past this season.
