A few rounds into the Premiership and some of us are already dreading the prospect of another spoon...Lucky the Titans are winless (for now) so at least we have a few points on them, but for the next few games, let's brace ourselves. We'll be at the mercy of the mindset of our opposition, IMHO.

We’re just having a bad run of luck. It started at the end of 2012. We’ve introduced quite a few 5 year plans during that time, sacked quite a few people, rehired Sheensy and sacked him again, nothing is working for us.
Hang in there THeart.

Never thought of quitting, during the highs and lows. Sometimes, though, venting helps! ;-)

Yesterday was pretty disheartening. Losses like the Dolphins I can stomach, when you know they are having a go. They didn’t have one yesterday imo. And if we played a more polished team we would have been lapped even worse.

It seems atm that our chances for the most part hinge on an 18 year old.

Yesterday was poor as was round one against the Raiders. Common thread is both Raiders and Dragons are aggressive and physical. We haven’t learnt yet to play that way every week. Second game this year we didn’t turn up and it coincides with Sullivan starting.

Benji ball. 50% win rate with a lot of games lost by less than 4 points.
If we can snag 9th on the ladder the nostalgia is complete.

Only 2 tries the difference, in our worst showing
all year. There is next 2 zero connection with bud
& this team, yesterday afternoon was a great
opportunity to put his hand up in the Galvinator &
Latu's absence but he shit the bed. I think he'll be
better 4 it as will we.. A lot of changes on the way 2

We're doing better than a few better rated outfits, have a coach prepared to give good young players like Galvin a go and to call out bad performances like yesterdays and a pretty decent spine that will only get better when Luai gets here in 2025. I think we're going OK overall.

Preseason I had us in a 3 way contest for the spoon with Dogs and Dragons. I think we are much worse than the 2 of them and will need the Titans woes to continue to avoid the spoon.

However I also thought our future was headed in the right direction with some of the younger talent and Luai coming into the team. I still believe this with what we have seen from Galvin and S Fainu.

My concern though, is there enough cap space remaining to upgrade the pack? So long as the likes of Twal who seems to get lazier by the game (or maybe I just watch more closely nowadays) and Seyfarth in the best 17 our spine players are no chance of performing consistently.

Whilst I hate losing against the brand new, non established teams, I could cop the loss against the Dolphins, short turnaround on the road after a hard fought win over Parra etc. But to lose to the Dragons, a team we should beat easily if we just played the same way we did against Cronulla, is just so disappointing and another 2 points gone begging.

Losing both Galvin and Fainu at the same time is very unlucky and sadly Sullivan is just not up to it. I was hoping he’d be better. Bateman was a loss yesterday too, despite what some people think of him. Still the other players needed to step up and they didn’t, just like every other season.

I think on paper the Dragons have a better team than the Tigers…and that’s not talking up the Dragons who are probably around the 10th to 12 th best team …

Just a reality check really that there is still a way to go ..

The Bulldogs will just have to hold the ball to cause us immense greif. They are going to trouble most teams even with average halves. They have got strike everywhere.

the difference between our best and worst is miles apart. if we can bring the floor up we will have a decent season. it's not talent in our best 17 that is our issue, it is mentality.

If Bateman and Galvin played in place of Sullivan and Seyfarth.... I believe we win that game or at least go extremely close if I'm being completely honest. Still doesn't change the result though. I also think Samuela despite his inexperience was a big loss of the bench as I consider him one of our best players this year truthfully.

Defensively we were surprisingly decent despite the loss I thought - most tries conceded were due to Lomax just being such an aerial threat and coming down with the ball when he really shouldn't, he just had one of those games which is hard to coach against sometimes and that's okay. However, we didn't do ourselves much favors with just constant silly penalties conceded giving the Dragons chance after chance, whilst I thought our goal line defense wasn't terrible our discipline in D definitely wasn't up to par. I don't want to pinpoint any players but the amount of silly set restarts Seyfarth gives away is beyond stupid.

However, from an attacking perspective I think we were quite poor and definitely need serious improvements if we want to win games consistently but I do also think Galvin despite his age unlocks our attack so much better than Sullivan does.

Side note: I would like to see Naden in for Solomon Faataape or even give Latu a stint at centre and see how he goes with Galvin and Seizer running the show. Some early ball to Latu at centre similarly to how they give Cobbo/Staggs the footy on the edges at Brisbane with space would be cool to see. I reckon he could make an impact and it'll allow him to get FG minutes under his belt too.
