LIVE GAME Round 11 v Rabbitohs

Live Game Discussion
I'm not defending Luai here as I agree he needs to step up and hasn't delivered on what he came here to do. However he is playing in a completely different environment. What I mean by this is at Penrith the had TWO players straightening the attack for him in Yeo and Cleary. At the Tigers he has no one doing this. So as a sideways half, which he has always been, he isn't given the platform to play. This is shocking coaching from Benji to not recognise this. On the odd occasion we have had Latu on the field you see our attack completely change. If this wasn't a big enough clue for the coach then I'm afraid we are screwed. We need a middle who naturally plays straight, and a 6 who plays straight. That 6 without doubt us Latu (and yes I know he gets injured all the time) but his back up needs to play a simple role of playing straight. Maybe that's Kurt Falls. Playing straight is EVERYTHING and we have no one who does this. Benji not realising this is costing us a top 8 spot.

I honestly laugh at those who claim Galvin is an elite 6. That is embarrassing for those idiots. He will be an overpaid skinny backrower within 2 years. He has very little natural skill of a half. He even doesn't run with the ball in 2 hands. That's under 12 stuff. I can't wait for him to fail at another club.
Yep our attack will be a lot different with Latu at 5/8 to straighten us up. I pray that his body holds up for the rest of the season.

It’s easy to shit on the players but except for the period of the sinbin they played like individuals and hence why Api scored 2 on his own.

With that side (may do much metres he makes all game and is elite , API elite , luai elite) should be performing 100% better

Luai is half and million dollar player he seemed only to step up during the last 10 , rest of the game a passenger
Why is Galvin not been reigned in, he tries to score every player and he should be kicking less. His defence is being targeted why isn’t there a plan in place to limit his suspect defence with players around him rather than him get isolated constantly all over the field not just tryline

That was a tough game against a well coached and gritty outfit. Exposed our flaws. We just don’t have the cattle unfortunately. We are close to being competitive for the top 8.

Seyfarth, Douihei, Galvin, Naden from that squad are not first graders. Twal is borderline but I’ll give him a pass as he’s defensively solid.

👏 Sukkar he’s a future first graders player in my view.

Your spot on. Luais main problem atm is he is crabbing sideways, if he just straightened his runs up he is so much more dangerous. Atm we have a 6 and 7 who are running sideways. Luai needs to straighten up draw or engage a defender then pick the front man, the guy out the back or link with the 5/8. Just seems at the moment Luai and Galvin are running into eachother. We are way too sideways.

The bench cost us, wtf was Naden there for.
Did Toa get injured?
As much as I have supported Douhie he was shit tonight. His defence was atrocious when he didn't put a hit on Mitchell 🤦‍♂️, so many arm grabs then the stupid kick he put in when gathered the ball so much for his kicking.
Seyfarth sorry but again he was shown up by Sukkar..
Galvin if he held onto the ball it just would have masked how shit he is going the bloody hog, (can't wait to see MM blast him at the eels.)

The ref what can i say😤

Positives
Sukar
Api
May
I thought Luai started showing some threats in the second half.

If you look at the draw and the table we absolutely have to be favourites for the spoon

Luai said if he played for us last year we would've made the 8 but with a much better team this year and him in i still see us favourites for the spoon

We have no depth but would still absolutely honestly struggle to beat our reserve grade team

Good i hate loyalty

It's the reason I still follow us

Have you watched Newcastle recently I cant see them getting more then two wins for the rest of the year we wont get the spoon but bottom four is still a possibility

Some interesting stats (as I can only see stats not the game). Also likely to be refined by NRL stats people.
Bula 308 run metres from 26 runs.
Turuva 240m from 24.
May 199m from 19.
Api 171m from 8 runs (what the??).

Bula 7 tackle breaks. May 6.
Api 3 line breaks.

May 63 tackles, 0 missed, 1 inneffective.
Api 57 tackles, 5 missed, 0 inneffective.
Seyfarth 50 tackles, 2 missed, 1 inneffective

To'a 3 errors. Galvin, Doueihi, Staines 2 each.

Naden 4 tackles, 4 missed 👍👍👍.

Never expected a win realistically, but I cannot understand Naden on the bench over Mason who could cover the whole backline probably just don't let him catch any bombs. Also really weird bench but injuries I guess. Please don't pick May for Origin or we could be in trouble if he's not ready for the Saturday game after.
Some huge efforts from individuals but we got nothing from our centres and second rowers again. Keeping the good players engaged when some guys just aren’t first grade standard will be Benji’s biggest test.

How Naden is picked is every week does my head in.
Seyfarth tries hard but really offers nothing.
AD can kick but looks like he’s running in quicksand.
Galvin is a one trick Pony runs sideways and creates no space for our outside backs.
We are certainly missing Skelton and need to give Latu a go at 5/8.
Sukkar was impressive can break a tackle I would like see more of him.

So what. Can't throw a pass in the rain. Don't these blokes do this full time. All they do, they're bread and butter is ball movement. As soon as it rains then everything they practice gets thrown out of the window. Why. Back yourself.
The reality is everything is a fraction slower in the wet and the ground is theoretically a bit narrower due to the risk of being pushed into touch. Thus it’s hard to go around teams.

I agree Galvin threw two bad passes that went behind players on the right edge in the last 15 minutes. I believe it was the wind that blew the ball behind the player.

Your spot on. Luais main problem atm is he is crabbing sideways, if he just straightened his guns up he is so much more dangerous. Atm we have a 6 and 7 who are running sideways. Jerrys main problem is he doesnt have a 7 playing next to him. The guy is a 6. Latu is the 7 he needs. Galvin should never play for the Tigers again after tonight.
