Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

3 different clubs have had a decade to look at Naden..he cant make it.time to move on
Staines worth keeping at the rite $$.Talented and committed
Toa is also talented no doubt.but defence ordinary.May and Makisini will likely replace him next year...but Id like to keep him around
Did everyone notice the speed of the Penrith backline tonight, especially their centres.
Tóa would have been caught almost instantly.
Can't waite for May and Makasini to show some speed and set up their wingers, fullback.

Looking at the contracts- seems the club is in a good position to remove a number of questionable contracts in a year. It's obviously still guess work, but the quality of our Development contracts from 2025 to 2026 seems a dramatic improvement...Will Craig, Alex Lobb....

There are a number of spots still to fill. 1 or 2 good quality players added would be key- KPP is a start- but just as importantly, do not invest into other questionable additions.

Looking at the list, I would say in 2026 the only contracts I would consider labelling 'bad' would be Hunt & Sullivan. The others are either in the last year of their deal, or explainable/good value.

This is a long way from where the club has been in previous years.

Getting a team with guys like Bula, the Fainu's, Luai, Terrell & Taylan May, Makasini, Turuva...that is a pretty impressive collection of talent starting to form.

Looking at the player list I think we are in great shape as far as clearing out a lot of the dead wood and making space for improvements. I suppose the issue is how we fill the spaces and who is available and would actually come to our club. The issue is the player market is bare and with new clubs being added there is more competition for quality. Let’s face it, we haven’t shown ourselves to be a desirable destination.
Richo has his work cut out so I’m not surprised that it might take some time.

** Which players or positions need to be replaced with better quality to make us a genuine top 4 team and which players are either off contract for 2026 or 2027 and a realistic chance of joining us as these replacements?

Maybe they did and maybe they didn't but whatever the reason, Wests wouldn't be here in any form if they hadn't. Just think how long your days would be if you didn't have something to endlessly rail about.
Just like many I didn't want to merge but it's a reality we had to accept and that isn't going to change.
Where have I “constantly railed about” anything?

My comments on this topic have always been in response to others.

Nice team , but unless we get another class prop and a gun lock , nothing will change , we got the cash and the spots , really need to go hard on these two spots

I think we need another lock and prop, preferably replacing Bird and Hunt and I think we also need another edge back rower with genuine speed to keep the pressure on the starting players and potentially be our number 15 who can cover the forwards and backs.
I also think we need a genuine strike centre, we need better than To’a and if Makasini emerges quicker than expected, either he or Taylan May can potentially move to the wing.
