Adam Doueihi #227

Latu and Bud were on more, I think he's worth more then that personally
Totally agree...its crazy to think that we will be paying Bud about the same $$ to play for Souths next 2 seasons as were offering AD!!!They are miles apart, particularly if u factor on goalkicking
Amd Ill subtract some for ADs past 3 seasons of mediocrity...but like Blore.think hes finally over it
Think Isaac M now has an invite to get involved on way or another...and that will be the end for us
Frankly,I wldnt work with IM again..whatever the cost

I think the moses deal with AD is he gets to negotiate and receive commission if AD signs for another club. AD is handling the negotiation with Richo and he will probably pay Moses a set fee if he signs with us.

Latu is just inconsistent. Comes with being a 20 year old half. Actually, I wouldn’t even call him inconsistent, cos that implies he’s had bad games and he hasn’t. Just had games where he hasn’t had much impact. But that’s only because he’s 20.
Realistically we haven’t seen him play a single game as a classic halfback yet. Lots of development to come.

He might just be a 5/8? Is he vocal enough for a halfback?
We've been through that experiment, he is not a 5/8 or a half. He is a servicable subsititute. He may make a 13 with an off season and an attitude adjustment to his role in defence, dirty hit ups and the kick chase. AD is a good clubman, much like Twal and Seyfarth (but with more upside than the latter). If we are serious about having a crack at a premiership AD is depth (unless he makes a transformation to 13 over the off season).

From what I have seen of him at 13 (which admittedly isn't a lot) he does not share the middles workload well enough, he does not participate willingly in the kick chase (where he should be one of the leaders) and he id lazy in defence (sure he makes his tackles, but does not apply good inside pressure and for the life of him would not make an effort to chase anyone down unless if he could leave it to someone else).

Even yesterday, where he had a great game with ball in hand and made some good one on one defensive reads, the effort areas in supporting his team mates was low. He drives me insane - he has talent and skills but is so bloody lazy in aspects of his game.

If Benji can get himplaying to his potential as opposed to what he is comfortable with - he can be a real asset. I guess the ball is in his court.

I was dead against resigning Doueihi earlier in the year especially for longer than a year at a time. But he's been outstanding of late his D seems to have improved when i thought that was inconceivable.

The 2 yr offer seems reasonable but i think it could stretch to $400-450 i dont think thats out of order but if he accepts $350 x 2 even better i guess it could be seen as repaying the faith through his 2 ACL's with us.

Our first try on the weekend AD looked a lot like Yeo, lock could be the place. He also defended strongly yesterday.

@ 350k, I think he'd only take if it eas 3 years.

Worth it for both parties imo

He has the ability - and when he puts his mind to it he can be good on both sides of the ball. He can just be so bloody lazy at times. Even yesterday, in a good game, he was disinterested in defence at times. If it is in his lane - he is fine. It is the effort areas that bug me - one minute he can be all effort the next he is looking on as a spectator.

You are spot on ; the first try is what we want him doing as a 13 (even though he was playing at 7 at the time).

Yeah I’m in total agreement on the effort areas. Noticeably better in the last two months but I have a long memory when it comes to our players and worried it’s negotiation time.

My opinion
Others can have and are entitled to their own thoughts and opinion re AD.
I’d give AD $450K per year for next 2 years and CO for a 3rd year as well. Latu is on more as is the Souths bound half back. In fact give him a bonus for this year as cream on the cake as he has assisted the team to win more than a couple of games during the past month.
He deserves it as he has made a very positive contribution to the club position on NRL table and the morale of fellow team mates, coaching staff, WT members and all supporters.
Without him we would really be fighting it out for the last place once again. We now have a good shot at not only avoiding spoon but instead finishing mid table .
He’s worth more $ than some recruited duds like 2 dumbass Dogs signings a few years ago

The current offer basically says we don’t want you which IMO is dumb. We don’t need another cast off from another club and he has been on another level as a leader over the past few weeks.
