Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s been newcastles lines all year, run left edge 7/10 sets. Then run right and use KPP as a diversion run, don’t give him the ball 2/10 times.

Or when they use him it’s on tackle 3 usually about 40-30mtrs out, next play they shift it left to open up Lucas/Best/Ponga etc.

Knights have hardly used him at all this season.

On the flip side defensively his work rate is very high for a backrower.

I haven't watched a huge amount of Knights football of late but I feel I have to ask if we're at all worried about Kai Pearce-Paul? It's hard for anyone to perform when a team is swirling around the drain but when I do see them he doesn't seem to be standing out even if a pretty putrid outfit. We've got a pretty poor record with signing edge back rowers from Adam Blair to Isaiah Papali'i - how serious is the risk that we've ballsed up again?
I have the same reservations of KPP's efforts to get involved.
I have to use my imagination, with crossed fingers, and wonder if he can improve the WT.
I don't know if the team is under instructions from the coach, but he is the perennial decoy runner? The ball always seems to be passed to the other side. Never gets the ball at speed, rarely gets the ball at all; and a soft tackler.
Seems to have the physical attributes but no voice and minimal involvement. Fingers crossed on this one. Hope Benji can extract his digit?

I've watched him closely and he will improve our team. Andrew Johns was pretty frustrated the Knights allowed him to leave.
They do get him running onto any decent ball , Sam F get good ball and can make breaks , Sione was doing the same , KPP is a big guy , tall , strong and can break tackles , just needs good ball on the run , he also hits and stops them in defence , he will be good for us
Sam F , Sione , KPP. Back of scrum

Personally I can’t wait to have him on one edge and big Sam on the other. Been so long since we have had a big athletic backrow. Imagine having options left and right….bring it on
Also seeing more strike if the execution issues we are seeing are fixed. Luia forward pass to Samuela last week (got away with it), Api to Latu yesterday etc.

KPP will be fine and a definite upgrade. I am pretty sure he plays right side which suits with Sam F on the left. If Sione F keeps playing the way he has been, he will be in the 17 each week and will come on as a middle or edge if needed.
We need to recruit a big, strong, fast, hard running and aggressive prop to start with May. I actually think this is the main priority as we can probably manufacture a 13 from within.
Our bench will start to look strong once our options are Pole, Twal, Sione, Latu, Seyfarth or Hunt.
If we can keep our best 17 on the field most weeks next season we will be a really decent team.
We already have a lock, he's wearing the 8 jersey at the moment. Terrell May had 18 passes yesterday, a lot of them linking up with the halves. Benji may as well name him at 13 and call it a day, because I ain't ever seen no prop play like that, except maybe James Graham back in his Bulldog days.

Because of his height and wingspan he gets his arms free over the top of defenders, so we need to feed off him in second phase play...I can see big upside for Toa and Skelton/Turuva on that right side attack.

Hopefully we are getting better. We do seem to be, but the real tests are against top 4 sides. Having said that we have improved a lot, thank you Benji, coaching staff and players not giving up.

Some dudes on here didn't like any suggestions of moving Terrell to lock but he plays more like that than a damaging prop.

It looks to me like he wants to play there so move him there if we can find 1 or 2 no-nonsense hard props.

beginning to think Liam Henry should be the main target post November 1.

coming into his prime years, premiership-winning experience, ready to start and lead a forward pack in the middle, but can also play backrow and lock if need be.

we've certainly got the cap and the opportunity for him to become our enforcer and gives us depth by pushing everyone one rung down on the chart.

with Perth coming in he’s probably worth $650-700k, but well within our range.

Couple of tid bits of info from a few WT fans with fingers on the pulse ...

- Taylan May signing locked in (Rob Bechara on last night's Claws Out podcast)
- Tino Tavana on a pre-season T&T (@poopy_diaper on the WT Faithful X account)

Happy Monday!
Taylan has really strengthened our backline.

With only just getting back into the game, he'll only improve. Plays with a lot of confidence.

2 year deal incoming 🔒

Do you think he will improve? He’s playing so well I actually don’t think there’s that much room for him to improve. It’s not really an issue for us as his current form is just fine.

We lack pace in the backline. Skelton should have gone down the right hand touch line to score on that overlap but was too slow. Sloane would have done far better. Certainly, he would have made the try Skelton scored look easier because he would have arrived at the try line sooner. Genuine pace also improves defence as we've seen with JAC, and half opportunities become genuine try scoring chances. I understand $ might be a consideration but our club has a history of undervaluing players with raw pace with JAC, Papenhuyzen and Koroibete the best examples. As for physicality, we get better value out of Turuva than Skelton.

Raw pace is nice and it's no surprise 3/10 of the fastest players in the NRL this season are Raider's players.

In saying that I'd take Skelton over Sloane any day of the week. I'd also take Skelton over Saab.
