Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Nah mate, that would have been the words that just flowed out of Benji's mouth and KPP just ran with it. These guys all have media training. How often have you heard "has full backing from the board", and then that's reversed weeks later? Can you imagine if KPP said the opposite? It's not an option.
He did have an option - he could have said nothing. You have no proof that he was told to say that by anybody,

Not the option I would jhave run with nut if he's wearing black, white and gold he has my support. There are plenty here that have faith in hom, and have stated that he is the best 7 we have. I trust that they are right and I eat my hat.
Make sure you have a straw hat and buy some smokey barbeque sauce to make it more palatable just in case, that's what I did in the past if I was wrrr, wrrr.

Nor do you that he wasn't. The fact he has to even address it and talk about it is enough. They shouldn't have to if the club was run properly.

They all said the same on Galvin, but then benji admitted it later that it impacted.

We shouldn't be giving excuses to the board. They need to be the ones leading by example, and they're the worst performers at the club.

To be fair to Jaream, with the board debacle, it's not going to be the same club that he committed to back then. Can't hold him to account with the leadership of the club making us a laughing stock again.
That happened at the start of december - he could have made a decision around the november cutoff but chose not to - using the board debacle is a cop out.

No WAY , luai is a runner not a creator as a 7 , latu i think could play both
Just want to see Latu injury free and have the confidence to run, play what he sees in front of him, and sort out that low tackling technique of his that flips players over before it gets him into trouble.

If he can do that I'm sure he'll find his best position and lock it in permanently, just needs regular game time to be able to do it.

The options only expired Nov. Those probably needed to expire before discussions even progressed. He would have been hoping for the 900k.

I love the Tigers, but it's obvious to me and most in the media why players struggle to sign or re-sign here. Continually putting the blame on the players for not signing doesn't make us better and avoids the underlying issues.

Yes I think he can make a good 1/2 , he has that great pace of the mark, and he is a nugget, hard to tackle, just hope he can steer the time around the field

Yeah that's true. As you say, sideways needs players running straight lines as options to turn it inside and hold the inside defenders. Otherwise the defenders just follow him across field.

When he is the only one who knows what he's doing, it doesn't look good. Our other guys need to be aware when this happens and provide him options too.
If we can get Fainu to start wide and run the hero line which Boyd Cordner used to run, it will result in points from 10m out.

It is well known that I am not a fan of AD as a half; however, if the decision has been made I will simply live with it and trust that he delivers for us. He can't afford to wear the 7 and drift in and out of games on both sides of the pill as he is prone to do. He has talked up a big leadership game - time to deliver young man!
I don't mind him starting at 7 as long as the plan is to move him to 13 once Latu is fit. With two good edges, finally, a big, free running 13 would be a massive boost. Latu and Jerome both defend well enough to cover for AD's questionable defence.

That was my take as well, but having him train as a 7 as opposed to a 13 means we have really missed the boat. If he is going to be a 13 he should start there with Madden as 7. If we choose to move AD when Latu is fit we are now stiuffing up two positions instead of one. He needed a full off season as a 13 to be prepared correctly - from what I have read he has done nothing in the 13.

Latu in my eyes is a natural ,smart , fearless ,player born for the game.
Conundrum i see, what the hell does Coach do with him when fit.
You think he would be happy to be a Mr fix it, Latu that is , Polish his craft??? in reggies.,or float about filling in 1st grade ,his attitude would make a perfect lock ,if he was just a foot taller

Agreed, on all fronts. We will just have to wait and see to determine what Benji's plans are for him. His talent would be wasted at 13 and as a back up for Api as has been suggested on several occasions. Benji is already on record saying that he is too talented for reggies so where does he fit? For me the natural solution is to have AD playing as a hybrid 13/7 with Latu and Luai playing a link role on either side of the ruck and combining where practicable. I know this isn't conventional thinking but it makes the most of the talent we have. Unless AD gets some reps in at 13 we will behind the 8 ball if this, or some similar type of approach, is the longer term plan. As I mentioned earlier if this is where we are headed AD should be trainign at 13 now with Jock next man up behind the injured Latu.

He's a perfect 14 in the modern game

Is he a 1/2? Lets not make the same mistake we did with Brooks, trying to turn a 5/8 into a half.
