Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't know if we have the coach yet I think he needs another year to develop

And we need a 13 if we get the other May from the UK he would be a perfect 13 for us and to be honest make us capable of a top 4 finish

I don’t think Barnett is free until next season … so might tie in well

My concern is the WT middle not laying a sufficient platform to win ..

Mitch Barnett went to the Warriors and with Fonua Blake took them from 15th to 4th in one season ..

KPP was with the spooners last season ..Im gunna need to see it to believe it ..
Well I reckon there’s a fair chance the Warriors would be open to a straight swap Mitch Barnett for Fonua Pole this season if we were interested.
As much as I could see someone like Mitch Barnett adding some real toughness and steel to our forward pack, I would not let Fonua go as I see massive upside in him and think he will be one of the best middles in the NRL within a couple of years.

We can’t afford Mitch this year …we are dead broke as I’ve told you ….Pole ain’t making enough room…just wait for next year and free up some money in the meantime

Next year won’t be an option as he’s choosing the Broncos everyday of the week if it’s from 2027 onwards.
It sounds like Barnett would ideally like to move back to Australia ASAP and if that’s the case the Warriors will only agree to it if they get someone they want in return.
I mean I would happily offer them Starford To’a as a swap, somehow I don’t think they would be keen.

I predict he will see out his deal in NZ this year … the same thing happened with Fonua Blake ….

Brisbane is a long way from Taree

It could be a long shot but I’d offer seyfarth, Webster really wanted him a few years ago and offered him a multi year deal

Well so is Sydney if you look at it that way.
It’s half the distance that Brisbane is

Well ..he has gotta play for someone …and Newcastle are paying their halves a squillion …can they afford him ? Does he want to go there ? He is in the last chance saloon you would think

Yeah I think KPP will be disappointing for some. The expectation around him becoming a totally different player with us is a bit optimistic.

Even in a structure that supposedly limits your impact, there are still opportunities to show glimpses of what you're capable of over the season and to me he is not going to move the dial.

Mate he hasn't played a game for us yet you might be surprised, give him a chance, he didn't get much opportunity at the knights how can you show what you can do when the ball is bypassing you to the backs 90% of the time.

It's up to Doueihi to give him some useful ball, I remember on one occasion at the knights when they finally got the ball to him, he ran through a gap for 50mtrs.

We’ll give him a chance Steve … just questioning that he will be comparable with Origin player Mitch Barnett if that’s the benchmark from others ..

Dragons can have bula, we can have papenhuyzen
Paps is retired apparently.

With him retiring, I would be rather worried about giving him a 2m over 2 years or similar contract.
He has walked away, he won't go extra. If paps doesn't want to play, nothing going to make him.

I don't know about him mate not available until 27 and turning 33, is he still going to show his blues form or is it in the rear-view mirror.

We may still have some older players in Bunty and Royce who I'm expecting to have good seasons now, but if still here might start feeling the pinch in 27, would we really need another aging player hypothetically.

Next year you would expect some of the depth coming through wanting to put up their hands.

I watched a Warriors pre season show couple of days back …he is a leader of that team and looks to be recovering nicely from the injury …. I predict he will be back to his best not too far into the season…

He will be a sought after player when he is on the market …

I watched him play for England without those constraints...he was fine without being brilliant.

He is just not going to move the dial if he can't produce something different than what he has shown so far, but look...I want him to do well. If there's some special talent he's been hiding all this time, I hope he puts it on display with us.

Yeah, solid for England but you saw how good the Aussie defence was and it looked to me that he was singled out as a danger in the game plan, they were all over him like a blanket, no room to move.

Let's see how he go's, it will probably take a few games to settle into his new club, but I'd expecting much better impact with us than under a braindead gameplan O'Brien had mapped out for him.
