2026 Will We Win the comp

This thread is about 33% less stupid sounding when I first read it a month ago.
I’d forgotten I’d started this tread until it reappeared. I was on a celebration lap of the Balmain pubs after the Cowboys win. I think I was in the beer garden of Dicks hotel waiting for my brother to get back from the bar queue. It was a Saturday night after the afternoon L.O game, all the pubs were packed and most people were wearing club colours and on a high. High 5-ing random WTs fans. Not sure how Nostradamus went about his predictions..maybe a similar way to mine.

Based on how we are playing today, we have been the most consistent side. That would have been Penrith a week ago, but they fell in a heap last week.

My reservations are that early season form rarely translates across the whole season. Some teams take a while to get going and you might be playing a different quality of team in Rd 3 compared with Rd 23.

In saying that, our style in defence has been most impressive and if we can maintain that, we should get to 8th.

We just dont know how other teams will gel as the season rolls on.

If we can get to 10 wins by end of June...essentially winning 6 from the next 10, we will only need to win 4 from the last 9 to guarantee playing finals on 34 points.

These next 4 games are crucial to setup the season.

Agree 100%

It has been a fantastic start but I have had plenty of Facebook memories popping up recently reminding me that we have had good starts like this before.

Remember 2018?

We had Roosters (2nd in 2017), Broncos (3rd in 2017), Storm (1st in 2017) twice, Eels (4th in 2017) and Manly (6th in 2017) in the first 6 games and only dropped a single game, and that game - against the Broncos - only by 2 points. Where did we finish? 9th.

Yes, the next 4 games are crucial. More so that two of them are against bogey teams - Storm and Raiders - that have recently have had a habit of putting large and embarrassing scores against us.

Will we win the comp? That is in the hand of Benji and the boys and the footy Gods.

One thing I do know for certain: in 2026 we ain't the laughing stock of the NRL or the but of jokes any more.

The 2026 ride has so far been enjoyable. May it continue and who knows, we can cancel our September holiday plans and cheer ourselves hoarse on Sunday 4 October 2026.

Yeah I remember.
We were well in the 8 and then rumors started about the coach..
Still think we would make the 8 that year but for that

I'm happy to just make the 8 and be competitive in the finals. That would be a pass mark for me in 2026.

We have a much better squad compared to when we were coming 9th.

Back in 2005, I booked some flights overseas in September, not even given a thought to the footy and we flew out on GF day. I asked the steward whether he could ask the Captain to provide updates as we flew and he did the Captain put the scores over the PA.

Well, booked a trip 18 months ago, once again not giving footy a thought and we are away again this coming September, so maybe its an omen ?

You almost had me hooked on the idea but we play the GF in October is it possible you could reschedule the trip put it back a week or two?

If a munt like Bradbury can steal the gold, then theres no reason why you cant dream that finals are looming.... Different animal this season.
Theres plenty of water to flow under the bridge between now and September, but if they can win v donkeys and then the slime 😎 🙏 🐅 🐅 🐅

Honestly lets curb our enthusasm.

Parramatta really was a draw, they panic'd and costed them a penalty... Damnit that's our teams job.

The Souths game was there for us to win, and we failed.

Yes we have done well. I say were a top 8 side in the top 2 position on the table. Which is a damn good position to be in considering where we have been.

But we are no where near Canberra, Storm or Penrith 2025.

Good old Dicks hotel, used to be the coppers waterhole when I drank there many moons ago.
A couple off warmups and then wander down to the Beattie Street Wine Bar for some good times.
Ah memories.

That would be a very interesting battle and well worth seeing.
I’ll come back to you before the long weekend to see how right you are !
Would be huge, massive grudge match. 4 time premiers vs the new kids on the block. Luai and Api against the club they left, time for Wests Tigers to pay back Ivan for leaving the club in the lurch and the Battle of the West. Dare to dream!!

Well, it'll be documented forever that you called it first.
