Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

1. Jahream Bula / Jack Attard
2. Sunia Turuva / James Schiller or Hazyn Mellars
3. Jake Averillo / Rocco Berry or Viliame Vailea
4. Taylan May / Solo Saukuru or Junior Tupou
5. Heamasi Makasini / Jonathan Su’a or Sione Finau
6. Adam Doueihi / Javon Andrews
7 Latu Fainu / Jock Madden
8. Terrell May / Samuel Hughes or Toby Rudolf
9. Api Korisau / Jared Haywood
10. Alex Twal / Alex Seyfarth or Tony Sukkar
11. Kai Pearce-Paul / Kelma Tuilagi
12. Samuel Fainu / Ethan Roberts
13. Shawn Blore / Liam Le Blanc

14. Brad Schneider or Tyson Snoothy or Jack Cole
15. Sam McIntyre or Ray Stone or Liam Le Blanc
16. Sione Fainu
17. Fonua Pole

** This type of playing roster would give us much better depth including some big strong, tall and fast outside backs to challenge the starting NRL line up.
** Rocco Berry has hardly played in 2 seasons so signing him would be a big risk, but if you manage to get him injury free he is a top class attacking right centre or wing option.
** If Berry was a no go due to being too big of an injury risk, Hazyn Melllars would be a great target with Schiller a more than capable right centre option.
** Viliami Vailea and Max Feagai are other solid right centre depth options.
** Shawn Blore would be a great inclusion on the proviso he was keen to play as a middle forward with the option of playing on an edge if we get injuries.
** Sam McIntyre, Ray Stone and Liam Le Blanc are all hard hitting and aggressive defenders who play with good energy and line speed. We could certainly do with 1 or 2 of these 3.
** As an afterthought, the squad I have suggested still doesn’t have a genuine attack minded 13 who can play confidently and slickly as a 1st receiver. Could someone like Jack Cole or Brad Schneider play that role, maybe starting but off the bench to create impact similar to how Dylan Walker has done at times for the Eels and for the backend of his NRL career? Schneider is already a handy number 14 with his ability to cover the halves and hooker, but he has a good strong build and no reason who he could not also play well as an impact 13.
** Samuel Hughes would be an extra big bodied prop with plenty of NRL experience to add real competition for a top 17 middle forward position.
If not Hughes, could we possibly get 2 years of decent t value out of Tony Rudolf?
** Kelma Tuilagi has had probably his best season in the NRL this season and is a genuine big bodied line running threat if playing on an edge to cover injuries. He could also be used as a strike weapon off the bench and could be ready to also spend time playing as a middle forward if required. His defence appears to have improved and now much better than it was previously.
** Tyson Snoothy could be someone to give us a tough tackling hooker option which would be ideal to start in rotation with Jared Haywood if Api is out.
** Josh Schuster on a Train & Trial deal with the possibility to be upgraded
** I would ideally keep Tony Sukkar if possible as I think he still has a fair bit of improvement in him, but maybe better suited as a mobile middle forward.
** Peter Taateo, Archie Duncombe and Mitch Taotua all ideally kept on lower tier deals and Glassie Glassie on a Development deal.
** Tino Tavana, Josese Lanyon and Haze Dunster all possibly kept on lower tier deals and consideration for Luke Jack, Vaka Aho, Ben Stevanovic and Bailey Hodges.
** Consideration for Heath Mason to be kept on a lower tier deal on the proviso he is developed as an impact 9 or 13.
** A big watch and see how Christian Taupau-Moors develops along with our other current developments prospects in Phoenix Godinet, Siotave Havea Jr and Blake Van Driie.
Siotave Havea Jr and Blake Van Driie- they will make the grade, both have the football brains to succeed, but they need a good development program.Peter Taateo, Archie Duncombe and Mitch Taotua all ideally kept on lower tier deals and Glassie Glassie on a Development deal also fall in this category.

Tigers sounds out PVL over Manase

Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall has approached Peter V’landys to test the NRL’s temperature on a return to football for Manase Fainu when he is released from jail.

With the Tigers moving on from Jarome Luai, there are plans to use his money to help shore up the retention of Latu and Samuela Fainu and potentially bring their brother Manase to the club.

Fainu is eligible for parole in October after being jailed for the stabbing of a Mormon youth leader at a church dance in Sydney’s south-west in 2019. The former Manly hooker has been incarcerated since December 2022 and has not played in the NRL since he made a semi-final appearance for the Sea Eagles in 2019. He is already out of jail on weekends and will be released on October 30.

The Tigers’ backflip on Luai has been rapid and hard to comprehend. Just 10 weeks ago, they insisted Luai agree to take up his option for 2027 in return for waiving the 10-day cooling-off period to allow his PNG Chiefs deal to go through.

The change of heart suggests his departure at the end of this season isn’t just about the salary cap. They will be paying a significant slab of cash – $500,000 of his $1.2million salary – for him to play elsewhere next year.

It’s a move that shows the power base at the club is no longer with Luai, despite him still being completely committed to the team. It’s a big call and one that could impact team morale.

If and only if they allow him back into NRL he needs to go through Massey cup and then slowly bring him back into the KOE cup set up. But think Manase value would be in mentor for lower grade players. This works well in the NFL and EPL

Jonathon Sha is off go the bears.
Some mid signings in there but it's a good post nonetheless.

I think 1 of Tamale or Finau at the Raiders are worth a shot, they're missing out.

Our bench was at its best with the islander bros many years ago. Sue / Gavet/ Taupau / Ava.
Can we re create it ?

14. Sione Fainu
15. Fonua Pole
16. Spencer Leinu
17. Shawn Blore
That was a great bench.... Would be nice to replicate it...

Ray Stone who i have harped on for the last two years would be a great role model in all the grades.
It just depends how much juice he has left in the tank?
He is still just 29y.o this year, so you would think he still has a couple of good years left in him, but the way he has played with no caution for his smaller frame throughout his career, means there is a chance his body could be busted at around this age because of it.
I think Liam Le Blanc is a very similar type of player, but much younger, bigger and taller.
Both are no frills and are unlikely to win you a game, but they would provide an option to mainly come off the bench and play with high energy including hard hitting defence, good line speed as well as some high leg speed, fearless ball carries.

Thinking left of field.
Does the team need an old hard head style defensive coach ?
Like Beau Scott, David Gillespie, or even Terry Randall.
We did well in 10 and 11 when we had Folkesy here...nit sure if he was defence or fitness /conditioning...no nonsense type of guy though, cut the crap and get on with it...dunno how our bloke would handle that style today

We had 3 wins in KOE against teams lower on the table and there were some carrying on here like they were world beaters.

Probably just a step back to the reality of following this club. We aren't anywhere near where we need to be.
No...just some a bit excited a finals finish could be reachable

You were right and please keep sharing . It’s the standard attack by the twins insaneink and gnr when anyone dares to post any news. God forbid anyone has information that they dont have . I think their fantasy in life would be to have an insider that gives them info.

Serious?
Kids these days need a.mentor to learn carrying knives isnt a good idea?
I think some.parents might be a bit concerned if they knew their young kids will be 'mentored' by a bloke thats done a stretch for stabbing a youth worker.
Might be good at out Cobham and Kariong for those kids already on the downward slide

Big news coming tomorrow mate !!!

So they are paying $500k minimum of Luai’s deal next season … reported in both papers today … guess that story of him walking away for $300k was just BS 🙄
Which paper, Danny the grub, Fox Sports, Luai's camp or the Tigers admin ....

Just pick the figure that suits your agenda ....

You will never know the true figure, the deal was done a week ago. The club doesn't announce a formal release without the paper work done..

Click bait rubbish in the media is aimed exactly for people like yourself that take it as gospel.

Yesterday you were convinced it was 600, today your onboard with 500. Wonder what you will believe tomorrow........

What’s their agenda?

You are doing exactly the same …believing the figure you want to believe ..,based on total rumour..

The club is not the only party involved mate… there is the agent., player and the other club

I tipped they would have to pay half so this is slightly better… he certainly hasn’t agreed yet to walk away with $300k in his pocket looks like

Your all over the shop, a difference figure every time you post.

I haven't a clue what the figure is, Read reported 2 - 300 K.

There is Zero chance the figure in half ......
