Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I would love to see Maddens defensive stats. Even compared to Luai's.
He seems to do a lot of defensive work to me. And still game manages.

From NRL.com

Adam Doueihi: 200 tackles, 23 missed - 89.7% tackle efficiency (14 games, 14.3 tackles PG)
Jock Madden: 295 tackles, 44 missed - 85.1% tackle efficiency (15 games, 19.7 tackles PG)
Jarome Luai: 320 tackles, 61 missed - 81% tackle efficiency (20 games, 16 tackles PG)

It would appear Jock takes on 4-5 extra tackles a game than his halves partner.

Tigers set to give Broncos forward a lifeline

Journeyman back-rower Jack Gosiewski could end up at the Tigers next season.

The Broncos told Gosiewski he was free to leave at the end of this year’s disastrous campaign and several Super League clubs have shown interest in the experienced 32-year-old forward.

Gosiewski has done the rounds, debuting with Souths 10 years ago in 2016 before subsequent stints at the Cowboys, Sea Eagles, Dragons and finally the Broncos.

With the Tigers having one of the youngest packs in the NRL, they feel his experience may come in useful.

Another one into his 30’s.
Someone do a graph and send it to Benji and our recruitment team showing the general decline in players performance once they are into their 30’s.
Of course you get the occasional exception, but a high percentage of players decline quickly once they reach this age.

All of our players are now a year more experienced in the NRL and Gosiewski is a year older. I don't believe he would bring sufficient to WTs to justify his signing.

A
Cody Walkers names been thrown around by a few punters.
Personaly, I don't like this idea at all...

His heart is with south's and he is almost ready for retirement.

These players haven't worked for us in the past.
No thanks
Also i have no doubts that the judiciary would love to see him in one of our jumpers, his niggling style of play and petulant attitude would not be overlooked if he was playing for us.

It just gets worse. IMO Benjis obsession over old average players to strengthen our squad is a terrible move. We just spent 2 years developing Sukkar, and now he is showing that he is decent depth,we sign a "never was" in his 30's. Roberts had no pre season and got experience this year. He will be much improved. Broaderlow looks a talent. Godinet a year older. Signing someone like Gosiewski is a wasted top 30 spot.

Firstly …it’s the mole , so I’m not going to believe it just yet ,,,

But we don’t know the value of the contract - so how can we judge it? If it’s like 200k I don’t see the issue - we need experienced depth as proven this year

How many games do you expect him to play ? Might only be 4 or 5 off the bench if they get a good run with injuries …

You know what else is no good ? When injuries bite, having to rely on inexperienced 20 year olds that the opposition targets and costs us the game when they leak 3 tries .

The Broncos are the only NRL club that get an injury and struggle more on their edges than what we do and Gosiewski is one of the contributors.
He was decent a couple of years back when he was fairly quick for a lighter edge back rower, but he looks to have lost a step of speed with age and is now a player who just makes up the numbers.
Terrible signing if true and by 2027 Tony Sukkar who we have not yet re-signed will be a far superior edge 2nd rower.

Like I said ,.. he might be on $250k and the 4th option and play like 4 games and a 100 minutes the whole season …Sukkar is option 3… but we had both KPP and Sam out together last year

I can’t do Sione playing on the edge again… that’s Benji’s obsession…repeatedly playing guys out of position and weakening 2 positions instead of 1

Unfortunately Gosiewski will not improve our squad even if we pay him $2.50

Ok man …Sione it is as Edge depth .,
No Sione should not be used on an edge at all, he is only a middle forward and a good solid, improving middle forward.
If we re-sign Sukkar, he and Ethan Roberts will be a year older and wiser and much more ready to step up to the plate when required.
Ideally recruiting someone who has a lot more speed and athleticism as an option would be great, but at age 32 I cannot see Jack Gosiewski being that person.
