Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Friz and Jake A will certainly make us a better side in 2027 and I guess Brailey and Mann are better than most players we have now. I still think we will be closer to the bottom than the eight but you can only sign players who are available and want to join the club and that’s a very small pool of players.

We badly need a game breaker but I think we will have to find one from within and develop him and that’s will not happen over night

Olam passed three medicals to play for WT, two of which were independent.

we got clearance to medically retire him because the injury that ruined his career developed during his time at WT. the NRL wouldn’t have approved it otherwise.

as for Mann, not really a surprise that he’s been scratched for the PM’s XIII when he injured his groin a month ago. that’ll heal up by the time preseason rolls around. I just hope it’s a one year deal with an option as opposed to two straight.
Cld u imagine Bellamy letting Olam go if he thought cld recover??

With the Mann and Brailey signings and the Frizell rumours its pretty clear the club sees addressing the gap in depth, experience and professionalism as a priority. I prefer these type of signings rather tha perennial cup players looking for an opportunity.
Think theres a limit to the number of early/mid 30s players we shld buy, particularly when none of them can make the run on team at their incumbent clubs Were there with 2
Trade off between bringing experince(cough)and simply blocking positions
And btw...Frizzell wld have been the first I wld have bought, but honestly it gets back to $$.
Hes a starting prop in GF,so...more expensive than maybe 3 months ago b4 suspensions /injuries

Even at his peak Klemmer was an ordinary overrated front rower. He had no physical presence whatsoever. He developed a reputation for being an enforcer through shaving his head a screaming like a tough guy. He was an absolute pillow, and that was even when he played for Australia. He was just like Jason Ryles, a complete waste of size and talent with zero toughness as an NRL frontrunner. He and Frizelll are both completely different in style and ability, but also different in significant price tag.
Had no mongrel in him

FRIZELL’S LONG JOURNEY

No one has had to play more footy than Tyson Frizell before reaching a grand final.

The Knights veteran will play his first grand final in his 306th game after stints with the Sharks and the Dragons before joining Newcastle in 2021.

Frizell, who turns 35 next week, is the only player without a deal for next season playing in Sunday’s grand final. However, he is expected to join Wests Tigers next year.

So too will his former Knights teammate Kurt Mann who passed a medical at the Tigers this week with a two-year deal likely to be announced by next week.

“I love the game too much to give it away just yet,” Frizell said.

“It’d be great to come away with a win.

“But in terms of playing on, I don’t think I’m ready to finish just yet.

“I’ve been playing every game like it’s my last, especially this back end of the year.”
Poor frizzled, wooden spoon to grand final to wooden spoon in 2 seasons
