I don’t know much about APIA not a soccer fan, but given the trouble the current owners have put us through we may as well give them a chance should it happen. Is that good or bad?

It’s definitely a distressed asset . And now is the time to probably invest in lower tier teams , as they try and gain a place or maintain a place in the Aus championship / basically a league 2nd division .I don't think Australian soccer is the worst investment atm, at least if you are looking for undervalued assets. It is a sleeping giant that has been mismanaged for a long time, a lot like WT.
What a good idea HBG, hope you're reading this Wests Tigers fans would be in seventh heaven if you sold and pursued a soccer dream, please, do it this summer. It’s definitely a distressed asset . And now is the time to probably invest in lower tier teams , as they try and gain a place or maintain a place in the Aus championship / basically a league 2nd division .
There’s every chance an Apia , Marconi or Sydney United could push through and not only gain an a league spot but thrive .
Associazione Poli-sportiva Italo AustralianaApia what does that stand for Australian pensioners insurance agency?
And who are theyAssociazione Poli-sportiva Italo Australiana
That’s because “wests” are funded by wests Campbelltown , and as a leagues club , what possible juniors are they to fund if not Balmain . It was part of the negotiations when wests bought the shares off Balmain to own wests tigers . It’s not some charity . It’s those ethical responsibility as the wests tigers majority owners to take care of the wests tigers junior base of which just so happens to be Balmain.
That just isn’t true at allThe point is, HBG are not wests magpies. Anyone getting hung up on this is focussing on the wrong thing.
There's a pretty long list of evidence to show that they've moved way beyond the Balmain v Wests stuff that gets rolled out by old timers. In fact, I'd say the majority of magpies footy club members can't stand HBG.
Ditching the former wests junior program at Campbelltown and switching to funding Balmain juniors (in exchange for the former Balmain commercial assets) is an excellent example of how little they're motivated by old factional stuff and far more motivated by making money.
As long Wests Tigers run at financial losses and going cap in hand to HBG, they're always going to demand board control. It's just a business reality.
Shane Richardson actually made this point a number of times. He said HBG would be happy to step back once they see that the footy club is running at a sustainable profit.
If supporters want to see the club governed more independently of HBG, they should be asking what wests tigers management is doing to make the club more profitable.
I am not a fan of HBG but I don't think this is as dumb as some make out.I don't think Australian soccer is the worst investment atm, at least if you are looking for undervalued assets. It is a sleeping giant that has been mismanaged for a long time, a lot like WT.
According to who? That just isn’t true at all
The club was running at a profit then they took control back of the board
That’s not true . They didn’t divert their funding . They split with the Campbelltown branch of wests . They haven’t moved anywhere near as far as you’re saying from the old wests v Balmain bullshit . They simply don’t have any juniors due to wests junior base being in Campbelltown under that umbrella .The point is, HBG are not wests magpies. Anyone getting hung up on this is focussing on the wrong thing.

It was reported at the time we made a profit for 2025, 2023 under HBG we were $1.4m in debtAccording to who?
I think every CEO we've had uses the same textbook. "I've fixed the problems that the last bloke left behind".
If this were true, HBG's books wouldn't have a line item each year going towards funding the team.
A profitable club does not need hand outs from a leagues club like it's 1994.
Once he had them running at a profit they made his position untenable.Shane Richardson actually made this point a number of times. He said HBG would be happy to step back once they see that the footy club is running at a sustainable profit.
I read the whole post he’s basically upset about how his post says that HBG don’t provide big funding like the other clubs do. Especially the private owned ones. So he sees it as an attack on HBG/Magpies hence why he’s upset. The crying and victim mentality continues... and im not even sure what hes whinging about here

So much for wanting a successful WTsOnce he had them running at a profit they made his position untenable.
Yeah ok, I couldnt interpret the issue (kids going off in the background). Sensitive lot.I read the whole post he’s basically upset about how his post says that HBG don’t provide big funding like the other clubs do. Especially the private owned ones.
