That’s the better option, but getting one decent middle is the hard part.

We can only hope, but you generally see the cracks appearing a long time before they happen.

Welll that’s zero chance of happening for 2026 and its very unlikely there will be a difference making forward available for us in 2027. Quite a few difference making backs available for 2027 if we want them and make some tough calls to make room for them.

Neither do I, but do you see us making the top 8 with the playing roster we current have for 2026 ? Yes there are areas where we have good scope for improvement such as the natural improvement you could expect in combinations gelling better and improvement in players, particularly our younger...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

That’s correct we need a couple of genuine good standard or better players who are automatic selections in our top 17 to allow us to make the top 8, but we have missed the boat, no more of those players available. Therefore a couple of depth insurance type of players might at least allow us to...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No they won’t move the needle, but they are insurance value type of players who could be part of our top 17 and not be any better or worse than a couple of players likely to be part of our best 17. It’s highly unlikely we will have as few injuries next season as we had this season, so we better...

No doubt the Bulldogs also make recruitment errors such as such as signing Galvin, but they are smart enough to realise you need a game breaking match winner or two in your team and they won’t be satisfied until they get them.

As I keep saying you cannot recruit a player in a position that is not available. There is a big shortage of quality middles, have a look at the depth chart across all NRL clubs for 2026, most of them are lacking middle forward depth just as much as what we are. The best we can realistically...

When I stated we should be looking to sign AJ Brimson instead of Bula you insinuated I was crazy ? Plenty of rival clubs searching far and wide to try and upgrade their rosters, we will likely just pay whatever our players ask for and hope they get to a level where they provide value for money,

Is that confirmed ? He would have been a very good signing for us.

    Tigers v Sharks - a perspective

Seyfarth’s contract is an interesting topic as I value him at around 350k and if that’s what he is being paid it’s consistent with players that are approximately somewhere between 16 and 19 on their teams roster. If he is being paid above 350k than yes he is being overpaid.

    Tigers v Sharks - a perspective

I know you agree with this thought process, as I’ve said before you are a very astute analyst. I think most of us other than a few extreme optimists are of the opinion we are currently still lacking the star quality required to be a genuine top 8 team. Let’s hope the extreme optimists are right...

Great post, your comments advising - “Good coaches can improve your "tradesman" type players. It's easier to get average to play a little better then to get that Elite level (i.e. JAC/Latrell/GI) to go Super elite... Plus a lot more "tradesman" out there then GI's, Farnworths and Latrell's” Is...

    Tigers v Sharks - a perspective

Yes I understand we were virtually forced to sign Jerome Luai on a bigger contract than his ability warranted due to us desperately needing a high profile player who would drive standards and attract other players. So there is no doubt signing him has served a purpose, BUT his contract value...

We should have signed Josh Curran when he was available from the Warriors a couple of seasons back and I agree he would add desperately needed leg speed and mongrel to our forward pack.

    Tigers v Sharks - a perspective

Charlie Murray didn’t cause us to miss the top 8 ? We love to sugarcoat it, but our highest paid players aside from Terrell May and now Taylan May are well below the standard of their equivalents at other NRL clubs. Whether or not these players can step up and change that in 2026 remains to be...

That depends on who you want to compare him to ? If you can believe the recent contract figures that were published for Brisbane Broncos players, it listed players such as Deine Mariner and Jesse Arthurs being paid 150k less than Turuva and others such as Karapani and Shibasaki being paid more...

Well he is big, strong, fast and has footwork and skill. With all those attributes all you need to do is run hard, tackle hard, don’t be lazy and you have all the characteristics of an elite player. So there is plenty of hope for him to progress very quickly if he is ready tho run hard, tackle...

The answer is certainly not missing the top 8 and not having a playing roster good enough to make the top 8. A large portion of Wests Tigers supporters are sick and tired of receiving participation certificates year after year.
