That's great. Waiting for 2023 is gonna be like waiting for Christmas when I was a kid.

    Coronavirus Outbreak

That will be interesting to see. At this stage, scientists don't really know what the potential is for this variant, so closing borders to southern Africa appears to be precautionary until such time as the potential impact of the new variant is better understood. Britain and the EU have already...

![IMG-20211126-WA0000.jpg](/assets/uploads/files/1637883490192-img-20211126-wa0000.jpg) I was on my back deck this morning milling grain for a dry Irish stout. This little guy decided to come down and spent about 20 minutes supervising the operation. No doubt he (or she?) was panhandling but...

I like it. Played it with a dead bat. Over to you now, Cowboys.

    Luciano Leilua quits Wests Tigers

Gotta love the emotive language throughout Rothfield's article..."Shattered West Tigers officials". I doubt that very much. After Joey's exit I reckon WT officials probably had this factored in. It will be interesting to see how the request for an early release is handled. Like others here, I...

    NRL. Anti-Vaxers..

An unvaccinated player is likely to be real liability for a club. Rugby League is a winter game and, if Europe's experience is any guide, we can expect Covid to rear its head again next winter. if so, I imagine that there will be increased restrictions on the movements and participation of...

    Coronavirus Outbreak

Speaking of Europe, this is an interesting response from Austria, where they have reintroduced lockdown - but only for the unvaccinated. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-11-15/austria-orders-lockdown-for-the-unvaccinated/100620180 Whilst I'm strongly in favour of Covid vaccination, I have my...

Politics Super Thread - keep it all in here

Yep. I think that the turn around in the vote, from Democrat to Republican, is actually an indication of the extent to which Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon was on the nose with the US electorate. It should give the Republicans something to consider prior to selecting a candidate for 2024, but it probably won't.

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Fair enough. I accept that clubs should be able to develop and hold on to talent. Maybe salary cap discounts are a better alternative. Given that we've had prior court rulings against a draft system, that alternative is possibly more workable anyway.

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tanking to get preferential draft picks could be a problem. But I don't think the current distribution of talent across NRL clubs is working for the good of the game. The draft has been ruled to be a restriction of trade, but I can't see a better option. What better ways did you have in mind?

    Coronavirus Outbreak

You can only do what you can do. If the leaders of our richest nations really want to provide vaccines to poorer nations then they will facilitate the manufacture and distribution of a sufficient number of vaccines. That could happen regardless of whether or not we have booster shots. I applaud...

Premier backs renewal of suburban NRL grounds

That's great news. The Libs have got an amazing record at both state and federal level for doling out grants to sports clubs. And from all reports you don't even have to put up much of a case to justify getting one.

    Coronavirus Outbreak

This is a piece written by Virginia Trioli about the impact of the "Covid roadmap" on health workers and the health care systems. I think it's well worth a read. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-16/covid-lockdown-relief-heavy-weight-healthcare-workers-shoulders/100541608

Haha. Still no haircut for me. I was overdue for one when we went into lockdown. These days I wake up in the morning looking like a Boris Johnson clone

After you pay off your mortgage

As long as you're happy with it, it will be the right call for you. It may well come down to the quality and integrity of the adviser. I suspect that mine (also recommended by a colleague) was a dud. My set up, with an adviser, fund managers, an accountant and an auditor was costing so much that...

After you pay off your mortgage

I'd have a good think about an SMSF if I were you CB. Lots of people love them, but I went down that track and I wasn't too impressed. In the end I wound it up and transferred everything into an Industry Super Fund balanced account. Not very sexy but incredibly efficient. Return this year was...

After you pay off your mortgage

If you can't put more into Super, and you are already well invested in direct property, then the share market is probably the best option in my opinion. At the moment, the share market is probably towards the upper end of its valuation, but if you have a long term investment horizon (say 10...

    Coronavirus Outbreak

Here are some facts released in today's Victorian press conference: 53.6% of Victorians aged 16 or over have received double Covid Vaccinations. 525 people are currently in hospital suffering from Covid Only 6% of those hospitalised have been double vaccinated. The comparison between the...

    Tyrone Peachey Signs until 2023..

I would be concerned if I though he wasn't going to be a reasonable fit for us. If he wasn't, he's not worth buying at any price. If he is, then paying a little bit more to get him (big percentage but off a fairly low base) isn't likely to damage our salary cap position or upset other players...
