'05 GF on Fox 3 now

Didnt like seeing Fitzy bomb a try in the first half, made me think about this season coming up lol.

You are obviously as blind as the ref. He scored that try which was disallowed. The referee deemed it a knock on when it clearly comes off his leg on the replay. The commentators even agree during replays. Fitzhenry scored 2x tries in the 2005 GF.

It is just the way things go.

I have my reservations about Sheen's position. I think you will be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't. But to trade of the Grand Final win is a laughable proposition.

Ask Canberra or St George fans how it feels to consistantly make the finals and not grab the prize at the end.

That and the idea that it is a trade off is also not on the mark. People seem to forget where we came from and the basket case sides we followed into the merge. Sheens is not solely responsible for our win in 2005 nor is he solely responsible for our failures since than. If anything it could be argued that we won the premiership a year or two to early with respect to longevity of success. All of a sudden our players carried market value like never before. Guys like Laffranchi, Prince, Halatau and Marshall who went into 2005 on reasonable but not large salary packets skyrocketed in market value and all of the squad had to be paid more to hold onto them when renewal time came to pass. The club was not yet in the position financially or development wise to cover this development.

This of course is not to mention that so many fans highly over-rated our squad in the years after 2005\. It is understandable that we feel that we are world beaters after such a ride but realistically were we there yet? For me the answer is no.

As for there being some kind of extra pressure on Sheens I disagree with that assertion as well. He is under no more or no less pressure than any coach in the NRL right now. Yes there is media perception, yes there is fan dissent but when it comes down to brass taxes these things simply should not and do not affect a NRL coach who has a good working relationship with club management.

Anyway if people want to talk about Sheens's failures before a ball has been kicked off for points in the NRL season that is their business. If being able to say I told you so is important to them in case we fail again than so be it.

Personally I am just looking forward to the rise of season 2010\. Our premiership winning year is our past, as are our four subsequent years of dissapointment. I am looking towards the future of this year and what may come. None of us know what is going to happen, thats the beauty of it.

I just reckon its bog ordinary that we cant even revel in the joy of 05 without some clown hijacking the thread and turning it into ANOTHER anti -Sheens diatribe.

We get it…..its just sooooooooooo lame.

for crying out loud.
This thread was started to celebrate a replay of what was the greatest moment in our (Wests Tigers) clubs history.

Lets keep the rest for other threads.

I'm surprised that you guys need to watch it. Considering how much of a protected species Tim Sheens is around here because of that one year, it should be ingrained into your memories.

I, for one, would have preferred to have not won the Grand Final if it meant were rid of Sheens now.

Blasphemy!
