Balmain officials will call on supporters to establish a $2million fighting fund to go to WAR with the NRL over voting rights .Please are these the same people that presided over the ruins that are at Rozelle .
Good luck with all of that!
 
The Balmain Tigers are dead.

Souths had righteous fury on their side when they got cut BECAUSE they got cut. The 15 years of Balmain being a part of the Wests Tigers will have made the majority of the fans apathetic to the cause. You'll get a few nutters who will donate but it's a lost cause. They should just spare us the mess and tell the NRL they concede now.

I didn't see it as real. I just saw it as a way to distract from the incompetence that lead to the situation in the first place. Rev up the blindly faithful. Nup!

I wouldn;t trust these muppets with $2 let alone $2m.

These idiots are the reason they are in this mess so unless they suddenly get hit by the magic competence wand any money given to them will be completely wasted. (& no, that wand doesn;t exist)
 
You can't be serious - when is enough, enough? These guys really need to find something else to do. Just when we thought we could finally climb out of the quick sand and move forward, they are still trying to pull us all back into it. Get over it guys, you had your time in Jurassic Park, now lets get on with the future!!

"One hundred percent" (seems to be a popular expression) Softlaw…... Bummer about the "magic competence wand" though - I was hoping to borrow it and run riot, waving it furiously at the rest of the management, coaching staff, dressing room etc etc!!

Okay so they raise the $2m fighting fund….how do they intend to maintain $$$ sustainability..call for another fighting fund every 2 years?. what amateurs ..I'm from the Balmain side of the merger and I am embarrassed how they (Balmain) are carrying on...We are Wests Tigers now...no longer Wests or Balmain..those traditional clubs died in the year 2000....
 
So where are Benny and his rich mates now? He got Balmain into this, and now when times are tough he is nowhere to be seen…..oh, that's right he is show ponying with his mining mates in the west for a Perth team.

I love the Balmain club, but if the future of WT lies with ownership by Wests group then so be it. The article listed by rossop indicated Balmain deserve better as they sided with the ARL during the Super League war and saved Magpies from extinction, but failed to note that Balmain wouldn't have met the criteria either....they helped each other yet no one in either party chooses to see it.

Only a bail out will save Balmain, and who is going to invest $3 million when they have no real way of making money. It is sad, but it is progress unfortunately.
 
My question is .. Why didn't Balmain consult with Harry (meriton) in regards to a new leagues club development ??
Do you think they would be in this mess if the above happened ?

Send all donated monies to Ben Elias who will channel them in the right direction.
 
Won't get the support anywhere near what Souths did. I was Balmain until the merger. Been Wests Tigers ever since. That's where I spend my money. Haven't bought anything Balmain this millennium.

They need a private backer, plain and simple. A fighting fund won't be able to provide ongoing contributions to the JV.

Failing that, I would be happy for Ashfield to buy them out on the condition that they continue to fund the Balmain junior league. We can't afford to lose such a valuable junior base to the eels or dogs.

I'm exactly like this as well.

It's a shame the supporter base as a whole couldn't be more like this.

I saw elsewhere he is quite happy to buy them out - from memory wanted to call them the Sydney Tigers.

Back when Adam was a boy I believe it was

Things and times change unfortunately CK

Unfortunately for Balmain they went broke at the wrong time

We aren't in a place to save ourselves and Balmain

I don't want Balmain to die , but the best thing for the WT's is be one club , not torn in three different directions at every given chance

Having lost my Brisbane club I supported I know how much the Balmain supporters will feel , but when the WT's are finally and strong unit on and off field the pain will subside and you will still have the WT's
