Even Harry knew better than to bail Balmain out

Says a lot imo

I saw elsewhere he is quite happy to buy them out - from memory wanted to call them the Sydney Tigers.

Back when Adam was a boy I believe it was

Things and times change unfortunately CK

Unfortunately for Balmain they went broke at the wrong time

We aren't in a place to save ourselves and Balmain

I don't want Balmain to die , but the best thing for the WT's is be one club , not torn in three different directions at every given chance

Having lost my Brisbane club I supported I know how much the Balmain supporters will feel , but when the WT's are finally and strong unit on and off field the pain will subside and **you will still have the WT's**

WestsTigers is made up of two past clubs - Western Suburbs and Balmain.
As a former Balmain supporter I followed WestsTigers because of that link from the past.
There are plenty of kids who don't know anything (or care) about the past and know nothing but WestsTigers and that's fine.
However, with no Balmain I would be left to follow Western Suburbs with a rebranded (stolen?) mascot.
Not my idea of what the joint venture was meant to be.

This isn't meant to sound heartless , but that might be a call you (and many other ex Balmain supporters ) may need to make at some stage in the immediate future

Can I say this to all ex Balmain supporters

Having lost my club (Brisbane Wests ) you can still be a Balmain Tiger supporter The dreams and past will never die in your heart until the day you die

But if you have gone into the venture still wanting Balmain to carry on , maybe you shouldn't have become Wests Tigers supporter

Both Wests and Balmain ceased to exist in 1999

Lets all move on with the future as one

Finally we may have a small glimmer of hope for the future

A Wests Tigers future :sign:

Its all a mute point. In my mind it is neither Balmain or Wests.

There is only 'Wests Tigers'. That is not 'Wests' with 'Tigers'. It is a name.

When Melbourne or the Warriors changed hands did it change their fans ability to support them? No.

The only thing important with ownership is:

Good governance - its needs to stay with independent directors
Financial backing - it needs a strong leagues club to get it through tough years

Wests and Balmain didn't cease to exist in 1999 happy - they're both still around today supplying juniors to the WestsTigers
I became a WestsTigers supporter because I saw Balmain as **part of that team** and I still support them.
Somehow, I can't see the same glimmer you are seeing through this fiasco.
I will note though that reports of Balmain's death have been both premature and greatly exaggerated.
There's still plenty of fight in the old tiger yet.

For the record I am a third generation Balmain originating fan.

My Grandfather played Reserves for them half a century ago. Three generations of us cried in both grandfinal loses. It is in our blood.

That said, my father and I are now both multi year Gold members of the Wests Tigers. We both moved on the day after farewelling them in Canberra.

I would be very grateful if Wests Ashfield took up the burden of full ownership.

Wests and Balmain ceased to exist as NRL sides in 99 CK

You can't see that glimmer of hope because your too concerned what is happening to Balmain

You can't turn back time

Wests Magpies will never return to the NRL
Balmain Tigers will never return to the NRL

The quicker these thoughts stop from both sides the better

Can't people see that :brick:

To be honest we are known as the tigers you very rarely hear anyone in the media call them Wests so I believe the old tiger brand still lives on.Ill let you all in on a secret truth is both Western Suburbs and Balmain have been rebranded. It happened in 1999/2000 :brick: :brick: :brick: :sign: :sign: :sign: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

The Balmain Tigers are dead.

Souths had righteous fury on their side when they got cut BECAUSE they got cut. The 15 years of Balmain being a part of the Wests Tigers will have made the majority of the fans apathetic to the cause. You'll get a few nutters who will donate but it's a lost cause. They should just spare us the mess and tell the NRL they concede now.

FYI Balmain fan here.

Dont let GNR see you FYI your balmain allegiance. He will accuse you as he does me of being a Wests fan. :crazy :crazy

Haha it really gets under your skin doesn't it Seinsmeld

Whatever floats your boat GNR. :crazy

Jerry, Jerry If you want me to admit it then fine. You Jerry are one passionate, Laurie Nichols shadow boxing, never cry Balmain boy, Black and Gold will never fold, die in the wool, Leichhardt loving, Rozelle project supporting Balmain fan. Are you happy now Jerry, can we be friends? Will you still feel the need to make reference in every single comment what some stranger on the internet thinks of you. Is your skin thick enough to overcome these differences so in round 1 next yr we can meet at the game, have a drink, singing Kumbaya, coming together as one former Magpie and one former Balmain Tiger and showing the rest of our shambolic supporter base just what it means to finally accept and embrace each other. How about it you proud old Tiger?

They are rowing in opposite directions just like the club has been.

@Jerry and GNR ,is it an open invitation next year that we can all come and watch the group hug, would be interesting to watch you both argue who drinks the better beer

As a Balmain Tigers supporter and now Wests Tigers supporter all of this is incredibly sad. As I stood at Leichhardt Oval yesterday and wanting to berate the team for their lack of effort recently, I couldnt be bothered. I just stood their and laughed at our captain who is paid double what the president of the USA is on yet cannot handle criticism by one guy and carries on like a pork chop.

I will always have the tremendous high that the back end of 2005 gave us and the chance to watch them play in England.

Whilst people can think that we need to move on I dont. I understand Balmain is broke and done. Wests are in control but without Balmain this club never exists. I'm not asking for anything more other than for their contribution to be recognised and celebrated, along with the Magpies. Have 2 games at Leichhardt and Campbelltown each year, have a round each for Wests and Balmain heritage jerseys that is all I ask.

I have waited for this club to be a powerhouse, but it will never happen. I was a member from 2002 when I arrived back in Sydney till I stopped in 2009 in protest at Sheens constantly being renewed. Back then there would have been lucky to be 2 thousand members. I have still attended every game since where I could home and away as well as Balmain Tigers games reserve grade until now. I put in at least $2000 every year in tickets, memorabilia and the like but the passion is dying and judging by the way the players, staff and our shrinking supporter base is going I am not alone.

It is not that we are losing (believe you me as a Balmain supporter that never stopped me) it is the way they all carry on and don't give their all but expect us to continue to pay their bills whilst they plan their September holidays. This club needs to be jettisoned of most of the staff and 3 quarters of the players and start again. Employ and practice the wrestle for crying out loud. Buy a captain as I have no faith in Robbie leading them and hire some halves coaches.

Sorry for having a sook but it has really really affected me this season.
