200k thanks Dragons!

I have been following Balmain for 40 years played and coached juniors there. Some of the people in this room bagging benji are just embarrassing sooks.

I mean simonthetiger

“They will try and wriggle out of it for sure…..no love lost between us and them....I hate those filthy Dragons and their whingey, whining fans....”

You are the one whinging here. When will people see that the club has no loyalty to the player’s. And now it seems the fans do not either. Every single year we release contracted players. Benji seen this happen to his mates time and time again and this had an impact on how he performed. They then did the same to him by not honouring the upgrade. Anyone crying about Benji doing anything wrong needs to have a look at themselves. If the fans don’t stand up to the club then nobody will want to play here because they will keep doing it.

Since 1969 we have won one premiership and a major contributing factor to that premiership was Benji Marshall. Stop sooking and “the what about me it isn’t fair” attitude and harden the f$%k up.

I hope Saints dont pay and Bunji plays for no one.

Yes I am dirty.

Benji's fan club has gone mysteriously quiet haven't they

Lol, so if we don't think Benji is a hack then we're his fanclub?
Loyalty? Greed? Do you think there are many talented players staying on very low salaries out of loyalty?
I don't love him and I'm not particularly fussed that he's not coming back to the Tigers but I think he'd still be a good NRL player if paired with a good 7 and decent forwards.

No I'm saying when Benji originally decided he wanted to play Union the mix was probably 70-30 he approved /disapproved and their were vocal arguments

Now their seems to be none

I'm just angry what happened on Friday afternoon more than anything else

It was the right decision for Benji to move on and the club was right to stand its ground

Its not the clubs fault Benji couldn't crack it at Union and to wait until late Friday afternoon to announce this signing lacks any respect for the Tigers or his ex team mates

If Benji thought signing with a club with a good 7 and a good forward pack was the Saints he is deluded

It was completely money driven

I don't have an issue with that either , Man's got a right to earn as much as he wants , just don't try and feed smart people BS in regards to everything else involved

Does irk my personal sense of loyalty bagging past players.
Ultimately, the question of whether Benji had sufficient tenure remaining to demand a lifetime deal, after some poor form, will inevitably divide opinion.
As for how things have played out this past year, it seems more mismanagement than maliciousness.

All sounds Biblical …..... they all loved and worshipped Benji when it was all good back in 2005 ....... then they want to crucify him when things change ....... not much has changed in 2000 years !

What are options B,C or D Knuckles ??

They did the same thing with Moltzen, announced it on a Fri niter we had against Parra a few years back…Humpty got very shirty over it all and thats why we still have Timid on the books

Common link between the Moltzen fiasco (which it appears Saints fans have never really gotten over) and the new Marshall fiasco is a guy by the name of Martin Tauber.

Something tells me that when the current gravy train ends, old Martin may have some trouble attracting new clientele.

Didn't someone say that Benji needed to get a new manager to deal with the Saints as they refused point blank in dealing with Tauber

I really don't mind. Benji had some great and not so great years at WT. He moved on, WT moved on. It didn't work out in union and now is back playing for different club.
WT got the better end of the deal here and got some compensation to boot. Well handled and an excellent result for the club.

$100,00 for Balmain Juniors and $100,000 for Western Suburbs juniors.

Or maybe save $10,000 for Mitchell Moses to Organise a float at the next Mardi.

Or maybe give Luke $10,000 for costing him a city guernsey.

The club should not use it on new players , it was a flippant decision , one that was suppose to never eventuate , so if not the juniors then charity.

Benji gave my family some great memories , he has my full backing , good luck Benji.

We can't use it to buy players , it isn't part of the salary cap

Upgrade the Gym I say

It's a business. Benji admits he wasn't performing, regardless of the excuses as there are always excuses.
If your employees are not performing to agreed KPI's or other measureables you move them on. Happens everyday in the real world, contract or not, why should professional sportspeople be any different?

If Benji thought signing with a club with a good 7 and a good forward pack was the Saints he is deluded

Benji mentioned how highly he rated the Saints' back 3\. That's all he needs. A hop and a skip to wrong foot the defence, a cut out ball to Morris, a little flick behind the back to Dugan, a chip kick for Nightingale. All the magic coming from the touch footy kid's miraculous ability to step through the line. Benji doesn't need momentum from the forwards. He's Benji freaking Marshall and he's written an article all about it..

I don't mean to be rude but Benji's had some good fullbacks and wingers over the years He had Hodgson for 4-5 seasons , Tuqiri ,Tuiaki ,

Just more excuses from the walking excuse

Tuqiri was good in 2010 which coincided with our best season since 2005

I don't hear every other play maker whinging and complaining that they don't play behind a strong side or have a good back 3

Benji was good mates with Sheens , why didn't he just tell Sheens what style of players he wanted around him
