From memory in 2010 v the Roosters a Benji Marshall punch/scuffle with Mitchell Pearce in lead up reversed a Tigers try.
In 2011 v N.Z Farah & Marshall blew a slim lead with a poor last tackle option at end of the game. N.Z gained possession & mopped up a spilt bomb by Moltzen with Inu scoring the easiest match winning try in finals history!
Happy for Forum members to correct or expand on my recollection.
Bottom line the Tigers had a team good enough to make &/or win the G.F in 2010 & 2011.
Bit strange Benji & Robbie were still a key part of the Tigers roster in 2018 & are now contracted for next season.

Harsh penalty against Marshall imo. Pearce was niggling in the play the ball and he reacted. Ellis I think scored the try from that play and they got the penalty. Some real tough calls in that game.We were the better team and like we see in many games they stole it from us in ridiculous circumstances.

The tigers team in 2010 was better than the tigers team in 2011, but 2011 was our best chance. We should’ve beat the warriors, then we would’ve beaten a tired storm, and we were a better team than Manly.

thats exactly how i view it too. 2010 was an awesome team that would have won the comp most years. the prelim against the dragons is probably the best game of footy ive ever seen and should have been the GF.

2011 didnt have a stand out team like the 2010 dragons. we blew it and should have won the whole thing. our bench was our weakness that year, gibbs getting injured early against the warriors killed us. nz exposed groat big time.

Benji lost us that game against the dragons with the kick out on the full for the last tackle. That stands out to me.

First Semifinal in 2010, if they held onto the ball at that last scrum after Dywer's massive hit, they win by one, knock the Roosters out and get the week off before likely getting the Titans or Panthers at the SFS for the GF qualifier. Other results fell into place that weekend for them with the Raiders beating Panthers later that night(7th beating 2nd). 2010 still makes me wonder what could have been. Would have had a massive chance to get the Dragons on grand final day and not the week before.

Lui to Ellis was a fantastic combo.
Those two I attribute our 2010/2011 successes.

Let me start off by saying I hate Saints.

Ok that’s done.

Whenever those Saints knobs talk about winning that comp you should always remind them that there was only 15 teams in the comp.

It should be erased from history for a non compliant comp IMO.

I think the best team won in 2010\. We were a close second, but the Dragons deserved to win the comp that year.
We win that roosters game 99 times out of 100, and had a few other things go against us (Payten going down), but still came up only a few cm short.

I thought we were the best team come September in 2011\. Had a great run home - the win against Manly up at Gosford was the moment I thought we could do it.
The second half against the Dragons in the first semi was almost perfect. Unfortunately the second half against the Warriors a week later was anything but…..
