2012 Halfback Super-Thread

In light of what has happen in the last 24 hours, should we be making a call to his manager. From all reports he has been going really well in reserves but is on the outer with the coach so a recall to FG is now highly unlikely.

He strikes me a player that Sheens could mold into a old fashion type no7\. He could be a good foil for Marshall and Farah. Cant think of too many other options, but I suppose we should wait and see what the courts do first

im not a massive Mortimer fan, and laughed when Parra paid such huge cash for him, classic example at cashing in at the right time for him, an average player in good form at the time they desperately need a player.
That said he is well suited to us, he is a good support player, and shifts the ball well enough, he is a pretty good structed play half, that would be handy for us…

No thanks, I'd prefer an actual halfback. Sheens has done his dash in "molding" players for a role. His last experiment with Johnny Cronk was truly abhorrent.

No thanks. He's a midget with defensive issues just as great as Lui but with less ball playing ability.

Where I agree 100% that we have better options, I get the feeling Sheens may try and plug the gap from outside and other than mortimer cant think of any likely candidates, Prince for a year???

Miller is a better option.

If we do buy, I think Prince would be the best option. Even though he had a bad season.

If we sign Prince I will chuck a world class hissy fit. Bug's rants about the Magpies will pale in comparison.

If were talking Mortimer then I'm going to come out and say Scott Porter. I know he isn't great, but is mature and has a decent kicking game.

It's only an idea if we were to look outside the Wests.

I knew some one was going to bring this up, I HOPED it wouldn't be brought up though.
Daniel Mortimer and Scott Porter are both bad options, would rather use Jacob Miller.

Interesting the Scott Prince thing, I doubt it. I f he was to sign with us for two years it would have meant things would have had to have been going on behind the scenes long before the events of last night and we had no need for a new no7 before last night and depending on what unfolds over the next few days we might not have any reason for a new one if the charges are dropped or if in fact he is found not guilty.

The only other conclusion would be that they were going to offload Lui and replace him with Prince and with the way he had played over the past two months I doubt that would have happened.

Anyway as for Prince–a big no, too old

if it is deemed miller is not ready (which is possible)

my first option would be cronk (who along with slater would solve our problems at half and fullback) but failing that

Gary Riccardi, Chad Townsend looks near enough to ready as young players

Brett Seymour is an NRL standard half that could suit us, and given the emergence of Shaun Johnson, fair chance that warriors would happily release him to secure some of these young guns.

Could we have a crack at Maloney? Campbelltown is in his blood…..

Brett Seymour has been picked up by an ESL club IIRC.

What are your thoughts on a possible replacement for Lui (if the worst comes to the worst) in young Tom Humble

Had some good raps over the last few weeks, but no7?? I dont think so

If we are looking to plug a hole until a suitable Halfback becomes available, there's a guy running around in NSW Cup called Nathan Waters!!!
