Expecting a gold rush tomorrow for Australia

Probably 2 gold in the sailing and possibly a third in the sailing

God I hope so, Happy. Pearson is looking good also, as is the women's water polo team, men's hockey team and Michael Diamond in the shooting. Top 10 might be out of the question, but we just HAVE to beat New Zealand!

That gold puts us 2 golds out of the top 10 (Hungary are there now with 4-1-3). It isn't completely out of the question for us to be in the top 10 by the end of the night (Diamond/Meares/Perkins all have realistic shots tonight). Although there are a few countries in 11-25 range who have a few golds left in them (Brazil, South Africa, Jamaica, Holland and Japan). If we can win another 5 golds it may just be enough to get us into the top 10, depending on how the rest do. Hopefully Slingsby has lifted some of the weight off the rest of the team.

Anna Mears and Sally Pearson….

2 great stories, 2 great olympic champions!

Well done to both. Proud Aussie here.

Great stuff Anna and Sally

Some more Qlders of course

Maybe in the future we should move the Olympians to Qld for 6 months prior to the games so they can get a winning feeling running through their veins and develop real and true passion and desire

Not like this make believe stuff you Mexicans build

About time you folk north of the border won some individual gold.

Add on our second gold in the sailing that was are assured of and we're in the top 10\. At least the kiwis are where they belong (behind us), not long before they start their per-capita talks.

Dude Anna Meares is from Moranbah (That's in Qld ) and Sally is from the Gold Coast (Thats in Qld also )

You Southerners have to stop with the jealousy really Its not pretty

Well we didn't want to take all the glory MM so we left for another state to stand up and what happened

Sweet diddly squat

Forget the state rivalry on this thread guys, let's just give a big Aussie cheer for Pearson and Mears! How good were they?

Mears was amazing in knocking over the almost unbeatable Pendleton and Pearson?…well you just need to listen to her post race interview and compare it to some of our swimmers and you will know why she won Gold and they didn't. She said it just had to happen, there was no other option for her but Gold - WT sure could use a little bit of that mentality going into their matches each week.

And with those 2 more golds we are now back where we belong - in front of New Zealand! :stuck_out_tongue:

Apologies, since Slingsby sails at the Gosford sailing club, they've decided to give his gold to team GB, they said Gosford is close enough to Umina (Heighington) to make him a Brit.

On a more serious note, we've officially picked up our 5th gold and our second in sailing, a gold rush from Hungary today however sees us remain outside the top 10, despite jumping Holland on the medal count. Another 2-3 golds might just be enough to see us secure a top 10 spot. Where do they come from though? Hooker in his 1 jump tonight looked very confident, can he pull it off?

On another note, I have a good mate who trains in Tae-Kwon-Do with Safwan Khalil, who is about to start his quarter final any minute. After a quick chat, my mate seems to think Khalil has a pretty good draw and is a decent chance to medal, certainly one to watch (well for me anyway). His girlfriend is also fighting later in the week.

We have got a world champion or two (Can't remember their names) in the BMX which begins tonight. The Kookaburra's are favourites in the hockey, and maybe the equestrian as well. Other then that I am not sure what other gold medal hopes there are either, I can't see the Opals or the Boomers getting past the Americans in the basketball. Hooker may be an outside chance in the pole vault but unlikely, and I think we have another medal hope in the women's sailing as well.

Saw that Lebron James bloke this morning for the first time… He is big fella, but I highly doubt he could tackle?!

I think the Opals are a chance of beating the Americans, so lets hope they bring their A-Game...

BMX is an Olympic Sport?

Another gold

Men 4 man kayaking Guessing the team was full of Qlders , but can't confirm at this stage

Congratulations guys , well done

Just got number 6 Gold tonight with the men's Kayaking four! One out of left field a bit, I hadn't even considered them. Still have a couple of good divers to go - Wu and Broben are both going well in the 10m platform and Matthew Mitcham is still to come.

Hooker, the BMXers (in Olympics for the first time Watto), your Tae Kwon Do mate, MM, men's hockey, women's basketball (although a big ask against the US, but you never know) and still a couple of sailing events. We are actually in the top 10 now and may even end up with 10 Gold Medals, although I predict 8 :stuck_out_tongue:

Is this Karma ??

Oscar Pretorius (Blade Runner) Has missed out on running due to a fall from his fellow relay runner

That sucked big time, Happy! The Kenyan crossed right in front of him and tripped him up, then himself as well (that was Karma lol) It was a pretty rugged relay, another bloke hit the deck in a later change over as well.

2 from the gold coast, 1 from manly, 1 from illawarra according to their profiles on the london website. Still a great effort.

Hopefully we can jag another 4 gold to take us to 10\. Would really stick it to the knockers who bagged the team, after all the hoopla about the poor start, it has actually been a fairly strong showing by the team.
