2012 Round 3 Game Vs Dragons at Kogarah

The Drags as expected are too scared to take this game to the SFS as was hoped for by many on this forum.

Instead they have allocated this game to their Kogarah ground.

Rd 3 - Dragons Vs Wests Tigers - March 16 - WIN Jubilee Oval, Kogarah.

Cant wait…

Am i missing something here? what obligation do the dragons have to take the game to the SFS? I thought the only reason they were taking the game there was coz both Kogarah and the Gong weren't going to be ready. Obviously Kogarah is ready so whats the big deal? GNR, I have said countless times that the term "home ground advantage" is BS these days and far too overused. I know I am in the minority with this opinion, but if the game wants to be truly be professional it has to get past the parochialism and grow the game and give it as much exposure as possible. If I knew we'd get enough Tigers fans to the games to sell out SFS every week, I'd be petitioning for all of our home games to be played there (perhaps with the exception of Souffs @ LO and Manly @ CSS.)

I know St. George has no obligation to us, or even their own fans (they'd most definitely be shutting out some of their own fans with this move,) but they, along with the 15 other clubs in the NRL have an obligation to promote the game and allowing two clubs with huge supporter bases to fill up the second largest stadium in Sydney would create a blockbuster atmosphere. This backyard mentality (spurred on by the fact that people with the business acumen of a pig run most of these football clubs,) will kill the game. As if you wouldn't play the game at a bigger ground and guarantee yourself some gold for the coffers, ESPECIALLY when you're in the newspapers no more than three months ago whining that you'll be on struggle street if new poker machine laws come in. Their comprehension is beyond retarded!

The bottom-line is that all these clubs had better get used to the "reality" that these poker machine reform laws are coming in and start using more innovative management techniques to either get more out of less staff or manage their $$$$ better. Anyway these clubs don't know what effect if any these reforms are going to have but they should get with the programme like most other businesses that it's 2012 not 1980!!!!!! The easy money gravy train may be over so make cuts to other services that they provide in these clubs all members should have to adjust to a leaner economic situation!!!!!! The rivers of gold of easy money via the poker machines may or may not be over!!!!! The Govt makes the laws in this country accept them & move on!!!! :deadhorse:

This game is one of the Match ups of the season,

The ever growing rivaly and anamosity should see this and othe such games played at the premium venues.

The Drags had the opportunity to allow as many fans of the two of the best supported teams in Sydney to be at this game.

Yes GNR there is no obligation but for the love of their fans, for their love of the game and for the love of more money they could have done the right thing.

The AFL do this thing right and for me I am glad that some of the best match ups we play are at the SFS to maximize exposure, availability and the commercial aspects of the tigers club and business.

Finaly - I virtually never take my Tigers Glasses of and this is one such occasion where they are acually off.

Weren't people on here disgusted we played our home semi at the SFS against the Roosters in 2010? Now when the Dragons don't do the same they're scared? It's their home game, they can play it where ever they damn well want to be it Kograh, SFS, Yankee Stadium or Old Trafford. It really doesn't matter, we'll smash them anyway.

Don't forget about round 1 against the Sharks. Definatley be fireworks with Gibbs and Fifita. I'm sure Fifita will go looking for Blair. It is no different to our fans saying they want 4 games at LO and Campbelltown.

The vast majority of our fans are saying this is not viable (even know it is desirable)

So most of us are practicing what we preach.

It makes fiscal sense to transfer crowd pulling games to larger venues.

We keep praying for this larger televison deal, it is by no means a done deal.

I wasn't. I thought it was a bloody smart move. Humphreys put fiscal viability in front of an archaic concept that really doesn't exist anymore.

If they want to have it at a dogbox that only holds around 16K packed out and forego a motza (which could be the answer to help them rely less on dwindling leagues club grants,) good luck to them. But don't cry to all and sundry when you've got your hand out asking for your NRL grant in advance again. Muppets…

In Addition - Public transport in and out of SFS and Homebush facilitates and encourages mega crowds.

I am aware of of that. However, I imagine they would be still fairly well compensated financially for moving a home game, otherwise no one would do it.
