2013 SEASON DRAW ANNOUNCEMENT
Wests Tigers will play Penrith Panthers in their first blockbuster home game of the 2013 NRL Premiership.

The round 2 match will be played at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on a Sunday afternoon in a classic ‘Battle of the West’ showdown.

Wests Tigers open their season against Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium on a Monday night.

Three big games will be played at Allianz Stadium including a huge round 9 showdown against the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks. It will be the first time the two teams have clashed at the ground in a premiership match.

The historic Sydney Cricket Ground will be the venue for Wests Tigers’ Heritage Round clash in round 6 against St George-Illawarra Dragons. To be played on a Sunday afternoon, the match marks the 50th anniversary of the 1963 Grand Final between Western Suburbs Magpies and St George Dragons.

Traditionally the Club has hosted arch rivals South Sydney at the SCG for Heritage Round but has moved in an exciting new direction for 2013.

Premiers Melbourne Storm will again feel the full force of a packed crowd at Leichhardt Oval in one of 4 night matches to be scheduled at the ground.

A feature of the Leichhardt Oval home matches will be the round 3 clash against western Sydney rivals Parramatta Eels on a Friday night.

It will be the first time in over 10 years that the two Clubs have met in a premiership clash at Leichhardt Oval. The last time Wests Tigers hosted Parramatta at Leichhardt Oval was in round 2 of the 2002 season.

With more than 4500 Members having already secured their seats for next year and with four quality home games locked in, the demand for seating at Leichhardt Oval will again be strong. Reserved seating is still available for Leichhardt Oval however the Club expects these seats to be sold out before Round 1\. Secure your seats now at each venue by becoming a Member.

The exciting attacking style of Wests Tigers combined with their large fan base and popularity led to Channel Nine allocating 11 of the team’s first 18 games on free to air television, giving the Club and their sponsors tremendous exposure.

Wests Tigers NRL Coach Mick Potter said there were no easy matches in the NRL irrespective of when the games are played.

“From a football point of view, it is great to have the first 20 rounds scheduled which will enable us to lock in a really good plan in terms of training schedules and travelling arrangements so that’s a big positive,’’ Potter said.

“The NRL should be congratulated on achieving this outcome for the game.”

Probably the best ground split since we moved away from the 6/6 model. Only improvement would be for Leichhardt to have an additional Sydney based team instead of NQ, NZ or Melbourne.

Big fan of games at Allianz but roosters and rabbits there is crazy it's like home games for them . Would have been nice for a Sunday arvo game at LO but what can u do

2004?

All 4 Leichhardt games are at night.

No Sunday afternoon games at Leichhardt.

I say again, NO SUNDAY AFTERNOON GAMES AT LEICHHARDT.

Well done, NRL! Well done!

No Sunday games for leichardt

Why is this such a disappointment?

As a club, we need to move away from this reliance on getting Sunday afternoon matches. All our venues must be viable no matter when matches are scheduled.

I don't like LO. I was just surprised with scheduling.

Leichhardt has relied on bumper Sunday afternoon crowds to boost its averages. It will be very interesting to see how we go in 2013.

Not a bad draw I guess, a few notes
-I am also a bit disappointed by the lack of Sunday games at Leichhardt, but we should hardly have a lock on them, there are lots of teams that wish they had more Sunday games.
-Starting the season on a Monday again sucks, especially considering how poor teams tend to back up early in the season
-Manly on Monday at Campbelltown is a bit of a waste, CS is not a great ground to get to on a Monday, hopefully we still draw a decent crowd, club should hype it up as Fibros vs Silvertails
-I take it we are playing the Dragons not the Bunnies in heritage round for a 50 year anniversary of the 63 grand final. Not a fan of them changing this round around but this call certainly makes sense
-Broncos on Good Friday has been scrapped by the look of things, which is disappointing as that fixture had some potential.
-Ground split is pretty good, I don't think the Cronulla game warrants being played at Allianz but then again I don't know which game should replace it.
