2013 New Faces Thread

Havent watched too much u/20s this year so wont comment there. In NSW Cup I believe 4 players have the ability to make the next step should they be given the opportunity at some point.

What our backline needs is speed and flair for that reason Jy Hitchcox and John Grant put there hands up. Hitchcox made a real difference to the NSW Cup team when he played. As MCdougall said he is fast , strong and gives it his all. Can turn a game. John Grant probably needs more time in NSW Cup but is fast and big.

Josh Davis gives 100% good utility played in a couple of positions this year.knocked up scoring tries. Tim Simona is solid and already had some NRL experience.

all the NYC forwards are mobile , hard runners ' tough defenders and can offload - hope we see some of these guys in NRL

A lot of them are too old for NYC now so the WT state cup side will be quality next year with the likes of Sue, Fotuaika and Paasi to replace Moors and Cashmere if they don't start in the NRL (which they won't).

Heard a lot of contradictory opinions about Waters, How does he compare to Miller?

Yesterday Miller was one of the best players on the field in Toyota Cup while Waters was one of the worst in NSW Cup. If it was an audition for an NRL spot, Miller won via knockout. In my opinion 2013 is the year for Miller to step it up.

Waters is hard, loads of heart, but simply not good enough for NRL. I think his best spot is hooker. I doubt many would argue.

Yeah I agree with that assessment.

Waters=Robson.

If that were true then he should have been in the 7 jersey at NRL level all year and we'd have made the top 4.
He's not Robson, but I know what you mean … Similar dry, understated style

I actually think Waters isn't that much worse than Robson. There are other coaches that would have given him a shot by now.

Theres 4 0r 5 players in NSW Cup, Chisolm, Hitchcox, Davis etc who would have got a run at some point this season in most any other NRL club

Probably on very small contracts with bonuses should they play NRL. And because West have no money they didnt get a go. This is 2nd hand but im pretty sure one of those players ive mentioned was on 5k this year and they have only offered him 10k for next season. Most of these players can get more then that playing in the bush.

Correct.
I know in the Hunter, players end up with lucrative jobs in the mines. Hence teams like Cessnock, Kurri and Maitland are consistently strong in the Newcatle comp

yes i know aplayer playing on the central coast not teh same ability as Chisolm , Hitchcox and Davis who is on 9k plus $500 a win..playing club footy.

These players are playing NSw cup for wests as they belive they have the ability to play at NRL level and think the NSW Cup is the best avenue. NRL clubs need to give these sort of players a chance when NRL team is struggling or players are injured or out of form.

PS the player on 5k this season will miss by years end about 4 months work this year as a result of footy injurys so is actually in the red from playing this season.

Looking forward to seeing all the names mentioned play in 2012 and onwards.
Good thread.

I agree. Enjoyed the thread. You mentioned a lot of guys from both grades & there are others. As you rightly pointed out I'm keen to see who the new coach favors….
