2014 BENCH

My belief we will see Anasta at 6

My roughie for 6 is Lawrence if the speed isn't back

I don't agree with Rowdy at 6 , but something in the back of my crazy mind thinks it is crossing Potter's mind

And we have an abundance of outside backs with speed

Even Potter would know better than to pick Moltzen at pivot. If he starts the year with Brooks in the 7, then he will go for Anasta to provide experience in the halves.

You reckon Moltzen will be ready to start at 6 with his knee? Hes not exactly the most confident player at the best of times.

I'm really curious to see how our Backrow will look.

Its pretty clear the main prop rotation will be Woods, Galloway, Blair and Tupau with Ava pushing for a spot.

The back row however is a puzzle. Halutau will be on the bench and run on as lock, so realistically we have 3 spots in the 13 with one on the bench and Fulton, Siro, BMM, Patterson, Sue, Thomson all trying to get a spot.

Geez I hope WT don't go down that path again. Lawrence offers absolutely zero at 5/8\. Sirro would be the best option there, that way we can have a pack of
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Patterson
12\. Sue
13\. Fulton

14\. Blair
15\. Tapau
16\. BMM
17\. Ava/Halatau or maybe Brown

i think it will be anasta. then moltzen and finally austin.

depending on how the prior ones go and injuries etc. obviously.

I reckon Moltzen will start the season in NSW Cup at halfback and be a back up for Brooks.

Austin and Anasta will be the primary players fighting for #6 but I think Austin will be more hungry for it

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofo
3\. Lawrence
4\. Simona
5\. Richards
6\. Austin
7\. Brooks
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Paterson
12\. Sirro
13\. BMM
14\. Halatau
15\. Sue
16\. B;air
17\. Tapau

I think I would have Richards there for his goal kicking ability, kick offs, drop out etc. Plus he is really safe under the high ball and a good finisher. Paterson can be great, a good, strong edge runner with offloading skills and underrated ball playing ability and the guy can and does pull of some really big hits which is what our pack has lacked for a while. BMM showed how good he can be at lock towards the back end of the season and last years experience will do him the world of good. Tapau provides the impact off the bench while blair can come on as prop after the first 20 or 15 which i think might help. Sue can cover prop, lock or even second row and tighten up our defence too and halatau is our utility. Austin is far superior to Anasta in every aspect of the game.

Fulton?

1- Teddy
2- Richards
3- Lawrence
4- Simona (Lulia if Simona is not fit for season opener)
5- Nofoaluma
6- Anasta (for experience at the start, Molzten needs to get some miles into his legs first)
7- Brooks
8- Blair (played his best football 2nd half of the season and should not be moved at all)
9- Farah
10- Woods
11- BMM
12- Patterson (if this bloke finds form, he will be an X factor player- can hit a hole on the edge, good off-load, not sure on his defence work rate but has all attacking skills you want in a backrower)
13- Fulton
14- Halatau (can cover everywhere from centre to backrow and hooker)
15- Galloway (massive impact off the bench and hopefully stays injury free this way)
16- Sirro (covers a lot of bases and his impact was massive off the bench)
17- Taupau (this guy will be huge for us and will put massive pressure on Woods and Blair)

Now apart from Ansata, I think this team gives the squad a really good balance of size and skill and experience.
Anasta is there for his experience only while breaking Brooks into 1st grade.
I expect Molzten or Austin to cement their spot at 5/8 throughout the season giving the edges more guile and skill.

The guys next in line are Sue, Koroibete, Molzten, Seumanufagai, Austin, Thompson

Pick whoever you want.
Unless our defence is improved out of sight, then expect much the same as 2013\. Yep blooded a lot of youth but if defence is not good we are bottom half team again.

100% correct cq, hopefully with some new staff around the place that particular problem should not occur in 2014 😛ray:

I think this will be a very important criteria in which Potter will be making his selections come round 1\. If you don't cut it defensively then you won't get a spot. Doesn't matter how flamboyant your X Factor style play is, if you aren't ready to put your body on the line you will not get a spot.

1\. Tedesco

6\. Anasta
7\. Brooks
8\. Woods
9\. Farah

11\. Fulton
12\. Sironen
13\. Blair

14\. Sue
15\. Buchanan
16\. Halatau
17\. Murdoch-Masila

I'm expecting Woods and Galloway to start up front with Blair and Sironen behind partnering Fulton at lock. That would leave a bench of Halatau, Tapau, Paterson and Buchanan/BMM.

I can't believe I forgot Jessie Sue. That's probably credit to just how much he improved over the course of a season. Umm he'll be starting somewhere, probably lock. Maybe Sironen to the bench with one of Halatau or Paterson finding themselves in reserve grade? Either way we have a bit more depth this season which is good to see. I didn't mention Ava who had a great season or any of the newly prompted 20s forwards. Anasta will be in the halves and Austin is an option off the bench as a smaller lock forward.
