match at Northland Events Centre in Whangarei on March 2, 2019.

The trial match will feature as Wests Tigers' second trial match in preparation for the 2019 NRL Telstra Premiership season, with a strong side set to feature on the day.

The club's Intrust Super Premiership side, Western Suburbs Magpies, will also face the Warriors on the day as they look to build on their 2018 campaign.

The trial match will see current New Zealand national Coach Michael Maguire face off against long-time Kiwis Coach Stephen Kearney before the two sides meet again later that month in Round 2 of the season at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

The Whangarei match-up offers a tantalising prospect for fans with the as many as 18 current or past Kiwis potentially being on show in the game.

Esan Marsters, Benji Marshall, Ben Matulino, Russell Packer and Elijah Taylor (who was brought up in Herekino in the far north of New Zealand) have all don the black jumper at some point in their careers, along with Warriors players Ken Maumalo, Peta Hiku, Gerard Beale, Shaun Johnson, Adam Blair, Agnatius Paasi, Isaiah Papali'i, Leeson Ah Mau, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Isaac Luke and Tohu Harris.

Other New Zealand-born players in the current Wests Tigers squad include Michael Chee Kam, Josh Aloiai and Thomas Mikaele, who were all born in Auckland.

Wests Tigers will confirm its full 2019 trial match schedule shortly with fixtures for the club's NRL, Jersey Flegg, Intrust Super Premiership and Tarsha Gale sides.

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the club's 2019 trial match schedule, headlined by an NRL trial match against the New Zealand Warriors at Northland Events Centre, Whangarei.

In addition to the NRL trial match, the club's Intrust Super Premiership, Jersey Flegg, Tarsha Gale and newly-formed Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership teams will all play several trial matches as the club prepares for a strong 2019 campaign.

After their first pre-season under Head Coach Michael Maguire, Wests Tigers Members and fans will get to see the 2019 team in action on Saturday, March 2 when they take on the Warriors at Whangarei, New Zealand.

As the sole NRL trial match, Wests Tigers will field a strong side for the game, which could include as many as 18 current or past Kiwis in action across both teams.

The trial match will also see the current New Zealand national Coach — Michael Maguire — face off against a former coaching associate in Warriors Coach Stephen Kearney, before the two sides meet again later that month in Round 2 of the NRL Telstra Premiership season at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Formerly known as Okara Park, Northland Events Centre in Whangarei will host its first rugby league match since the 2014 Four Nations.

I think we are going to be the trend setters here, why would you need more than one trial? Most players only run on for 40 mins anyway. Good move IMO.

this trial also allows us to test out what works against the warriors, since we verse them round 2

One trial could be fine as long as the right preparation is in place so we start the season well.It is also a possibility that the coaching staff are trying to reduce the possibility of "burnout" which seems to happen to us every year.

You'd be one of the few. It's very hard to get a guage on anything. I remember going to one against Parra at Campbelltown and we got towelled up 30-0\. We finished that year in the top 4\. Coaches treat them with contempt.
