2023 NRL Finals General Discussion thread *Spoilers*

This grand final is gonna be epic. We could be about to witness one of the great grand finals.

Maybe the pessimism of the Tigers' season has rubbed off on me? I can't shake off the feeling that the Broncs and Panthers will cancel each other's strengths and grind out a scrappy slugfest GF. I can see it being decided by a Creighton intercept of a looping Walsh pass. Either that, or some hare-brained ref decision.

Fingers crossed that I'm wrong.

You can say i am very cynical (which i am) but i doubt if both teams will be refereed equaly in the GF.It could be just something as simple as allowing one side to slow down the play the ball more than the other or a skinny defensive line for one team but i am positive that one team will get a subtle but significant leg up in the game.

I am honestly trying to think of a Grand final that has had 2x powerhouses so similar clash like this.

I recall the 2008/2007 etc finals which were Manly vs Storm and one Cam Smith was injured and the other Manly had someone out.

2006 where the Broncos pip the storm?

Brisbane and Penrith are insanely strong. Should be a good match.
Penrith v Storm in 2000.

Is Haas a better prop than Lazarus .....very good prop and speed is insane combined with the size
Not yet and may never be. He is only young though with plenty of time ahead.

Lazarus record is incredible. 5 x premiership winner ( would have been 6 if not for a broken ankle) at 3 different clubs and it was each clubs first premiership. That's going to be a tough record for anyone to beat.

Yep, not to mention, Lazo excelled at every level.
Haas has a long way to go to compare with him.

Proof Ginnane is a fool who makes big statements without even doing his homework
He said if Penrith win three in a row they will join
- Storm - yes 3 in a row ? But I think if you are stripped of titles you are stripped !
- Parra - early 80's - correct
- Souths -67-71 sorry Dan Souths won two lost one to Tigers then won two
- St George - said many in 60's actually 11 from 1955-1965 inclusive

Wasn't thinking along the lines of his amazing record but as player comparison

Penrith under Adam Gee* 91.4% win rate over three years (16 wins from 17 games)

Brisbane under Adam Gee* 31.3% win rate (5 wins in 16 games)

But in this case they are not just that. They are cherry picked to create a false narrative of Gee having a bias for one side over the other.
I understand where you're coming from.
But I coldly just looked at the figures, and pretty much recognised them for what they are: reflections of results and as you said, reflective of the teams' performances.

If we are talking officials' bias (which was never my intention) that's another story.

He will be better than Klein Cummins and the Suttons ever were however that does not mean Gee will be either impatial or good
